thought the movie was pretty good. I already knew little ways in the movie that this was one big setup for the sequel which was kind of annoying. However I enjoyed the flash backs and visuals. Also thought it was weird when the mother checked out the son. I was like where is this going for a second lol.

Hmmm, yeah I was really excited to see this movie but something about it... I just couldn't get into it.
I just don't feel invested in the main character and his goal for his story.Go Jets Go

The books are good and the original movie is good so I'll watch the re-make and decide whether it's good or not myself.

It definitely has NOTHING on the SciFi miniseries Dune & Children Of Dune. If those had the special effects of the new movie, they'd be even more amazing. The acting in the miniseries is good as fuk SRS. Watch them if you haven't.
Not by a longshot. The special effects are great but everything else is worse than Children Of Dune. James McAvoy made that sht amazing (dfs). Rewatching all 4.5 hours right now. Most ****g0ts can't dedicate a long time to a good story which is part of the reason the new Dune movie felt rushed. Not a whole lot of explaining was done about anything so if you don't know much about Dune, you still won't after seeing it. THE FUKING WORMS HAVE BALEEN TYPE BS FOR TEETH FFS. Worms were much more badass in the miniseries regardless of the poorer effectsLast edited by DesiredUserphag; 11-03-2021 at 04:00 AM.

I feel that it did just enough to keep you interested, but that's it. And the fact we have to wait 2 years for a finale is just retarded. If I would have paid to see this in the theater, I would've been furious.

Frank Herbert was a terrible writer. Good world builder though and obviously Dune is important for what it inspired. But I like books that are actually enjoyable to read.
Tolkien was an excellent writer; his prose sings. Sure there are some bad things in LOTR but as a piece of literature it’s way way above Dune IMO.Last edited by EiFit91; 11-03-2021 at 10:22 AM.

I can watch the original but not the new one. I have a friend that is a bladerunner fanatic and even the founder of the bladezone forum and I can't bring myself to tell him the new movie sucks.
I'm on the opposite end of Dune. I hate the original but liked the new one because I know it's part of a trilogy. I did not know the other movie(s) were based on the box office performance though. So it makes me hate it just a little bit because that could have been the end. I wish I could find the miniseries but I don't even know where my dvds are anymore.

Never read the books and unfamiliar with the story. Watched the movie but really couldn't get into it. Amazing they managed to F that up because I normally like those kind of movies. It just felt really 'slow'. There was simply nothing there to suck someone in who isn't a preexisting fan of that series/story-line.
If they come out with a second movie there is simply no interest in following up. I feel like when the next movie hits my HBOmax I'll see it and shrug my shoulders and think I'm not missing anything if I don't watch it.
