How do y’all feel about giving a 2 week notice to your employer?

IMO, unless you worry about burning a useless bridge and/or working for the same person later on, why in the fuk am I expected to give an employer a 2 week notice, when they fire and layoff people on the spot with ZERO notice and without remorse.

If I’m leaving a company due to life changes or moving out of the area, that’s one thing. But if I’m leaving due to poor management, operations running badly, boss making my life hard/stressful, or due to being undercompensated, then I literally have no qualms with leaving on the spot once a new job has been secured.

Not once have I ever heard of an employer giving a worker any sort of notice before letting them go.

2 week notice is being a beta wagecuck loser

They will fire you on a moment's notice and you'll be out of the office that same day. Only alphas would give them the same treatment.

My job used to give all the seasonal temp works a month notice. But then one year a bunch of people quit/no showed when they learned the company wasn't going to keep them. So now all the temp guys are all stressed out worrying if they are gonna need to find another job.

I'm not sure either. My last company things got real chitty with management, everyone was jumping ship. It got to the point where they got fed up with having to replace people so when someone came up and put in their 2 weeks notice, the response was "Nah don't worry about it; you're fired."

I also used to work with someone who was getting a ton of chit from their manager, even going to HR about it. They ended up putting in their 2 weeks notice saying "I can't deal with this crap any more" because obviously HR wants to know why you're leaving. The next business day they let her finish her shift before they pulled her into HR and let her go because "We can't have you here any more if you're unhappy."

just lol. The idea of a 2 week notice was good back in the days of our grandparents when employers were much more ethical and gave a fuk about their reputation and the well-being of their employees. These days no fuks given kiss my ass on my way out the door.

My company pays two weeks in lieu of notice if you get laid off. I'd give them two weeks notice in return if I was leaving on good terms. Seems fair.

Do you work at McDonald's brah? Should always attempt the leave on good terms, as many employers look for prior work history and references. A smart employer doesn't just judge based on a resume and interview, any decently intelligent person can bullsh!t those. (Ded fkn Srs)

This. Typically if a decent employee gives notice they'll ask for a recommendation letter. No notice, no rec letter.

If I lay someone off I'll offer severance pay, but you're high if you think I'm going to tell a bad employee that I'm going to fire them in two weeks. I can absolutely guarantee you that person is going to be a wreck of an employee those two weeks. Would you want to go to work for someone else who's firing you? Theft, laziness, spreading toxicity are all expected at that point.

Also if a **** employee gives me notice I'm letting them go on the spot. Same as above.

But to answer your question, yes I would give as much notice as possible.

You guys quitting fast food jobs or something?

Career wise it's generally more beneficial to serve and work out your notice to leave on good terms.
Might need references or even deal with your old company at some stage. You never know.
