My stepfather is the one in the family involved in firearms. Aside from hunting once or twice a year, he's basically all set gift wise related to firearms. However since I moved out to Wyoming, I got him a shirt from the local gun range. I'm also getting him some jerky from local game, and a couple gift cards.

Since I fled the state, I haven't kept up with CA laws. Didn't realize the mag cap law was reinstated last week.

Regarding safes, if you're going to keep it in the garage be sure to bolt it down. If someone breaks in they can easily just haul it away. The same could be potentially said for it inside the house, though it's not nearly as accessible as one in the garage.

We all keep our firearms secured. That’s what responsible gun owners do. But…
He specifically bought the LWRC rifle for home defense, but it’s locked up in an an un-accessible safe 24/7.
So here’s the scenario:
He’s laying in bed at night watching TV. Boom! The door gets kicked in.
Now this 82 year old man with bad knees has to get out of bed, walk out of his bedroom in the dark, walk down the hallway, walk through the living room, walk to the foyer, hobble down stairs into the basement, walk all the way over to the other end of the basement to his gun safe, work the combination in the dark, open the safe, pull the rifle out, load up a magazine, work his way back over to the basement stairs, hobble back up the basement stairs to the foyer, and now he’s ready to defend his home.
The whole set of circumstances boggles my mind.
But where my father is concerned, I am like Jesus in Nazareth.

So, Tactical Walls makes a dry erase board concealment wall, which would be perfect, except that the studs on the wall I want to put it on are exactly wrongly placed. Does anyone know a concealment option that will fit a handgun that doesn't require mounting inside of your drywall and that has a dry erase board on it?

I have a big ass alarm system connected to a siren, etc., but I also recognize the limitations of my house. It’s an atrium ranch that is mostly glass on the back overlooking the view, and a front porch that is 90% glass as well.
If a dude walks under the service flags I fly 24/7 and kicks in the front door, he will be hit with 62gr bonded death sentences before he can even exit the foyer. Guaranteed.

Yep.
IMO, the 62gr Fusion is the best structural defense round on the market available to civilians.
I want a round that is going to perform extremely well on soft targets, and also be relatively barrier blind. I don’t know what I may encounter in my home. I may need to shoot through glass, shoot through a door, or even shoot through drywall, and a bonded soft point gives me the best chance of a round holding together and neutralizing the target.
Make no mistake, in my home I will rule the night and control the chaos.

I can't do a safe at night. Would never trust myself to be that fast.
When I lock the bedroom door for the night, carry guns gets put in the safe and the bedside rifle gets pulled out.
I am really happy I insisted on a home with all bedrooms on the second floor. Our last home had the worst imaginable layout for home defense.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

We have a 3 year old. I'm not that worried he's going to wake up and 1) defeat his door's child safety latch, 2) somehow defeat our door lock, 3) get the rifle from the rack 6' up the wall and 4) be able to operate the charging handle to chamber a round... all before I would be awake and realize it.
Obviously during the day where doors are unlocked and people are awake, everything is on my person or in my safe.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

Talking about safes. I just sold a safe yesterday. That Liberty Colonial 50 Extreme. Dude showed up with a skid steer and dragged it out of the garage with a tow strap and then picked it up. Won’t get in to the why but found some lightweight ones that you can piece together and might be good for inside.
Shot today like usual. Shot a Sig Legion and that’s a cool gun. That’ll be the next buy to put the SRO on.
Had some fun with machine guns like usual as well. This is me. In4 Farley says to delete Instagram because it’s cancer.

I’m really not that familiar with MK318. It seems like in the past there’s always been an availability issue, and if you were able to order it, it had to be ordered in something like 10,000 round quantities.
I know that late in the GWOT, some ODA guys were using heavy OTM very successfully.
Given that the 62gr Fusion is the civilian marketed version of the FBI 62gr Bear Claw (they’ve been using for years to drop shytbags like it’s going out of style), and is readily available to civilians, I’ve chosen it due to the success it’s had in the real world.
I think the only discernible difference between the Fusion and the Bear Claw is that the Fusion is a boat tail, and the Bear Claw has a flat base.
