Damn. The whole Wyatt family are gone.
Never was a fan though even at his peak(or Fiend's peak). Interesting character but very mediocre in the ring, and very fat. I want my fat wrestlers to be intimidating or atleast have that carnie freak factor. Bray aint one of them. Hope KO is next!CHRISTMAS Forever Crew

From earlier this week: https://mobile.twitter.com/Fiend4FoI...65641346248710
He was obviously super creative coming up with more than one character that was entertaining but wasn’t booked in a way to make himself a long term success.
If he stays in wrestling, I suspect he’ll have more success in a place with more freedom.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

I am not super familiar with him, he just started the Wyatt Family stuff back when I was phasing out of WWE like 10 years back.
From what I gather: he's creative, leans heavily into the fantastic/unrealistic/cinematic side of wrestling, can cut a good promo and is a mediocre wrestler (but not overly injury prone or sloppy, just not putting on A-level matches).
Two thoughts here - he really was a great fit for WWE in the 2020s, I wonder what soured that relationship. I also think he would fit in fine in AEW, they would surely give him creative freedom and none of the goofy chit he dreams up will be any worse than some of the stuff they already are doing. Although, it sounds like he wanted a slightly more dark and serious take on his Fiend character and the E shoved him to a more kiddy-oriented space - so maybe it will be cool and work... right up until the matches, which won't blow anyone away but not outright stink, either.
I could see him in Impact as well, if they can afford him.
Welcome back! We all missed you, my man. Good to see you pull a Terry Funk on your latest retirement. I'll be honest, this section was not the same without you while you were gone.
I wouldn't mind them splitting the group up, it's way too big. Too many guys, most looking like nameless masked jobbers, only a handful have real personality. Silver would be fine on his own somewhere else. Evil Uno is... Evil Uno, not my cup of tea. Grayson is fine, although I worried for his life last Wednesday. Some of those other guys need to be culled or have something done with them. Colt also is doing nothing there and he's actually a good worker and pretty decent overall.
Maybe shift some of those guys who want to actually work as heels and can get over doing it (if any) and send the rest elsewhere.Last edited by JUSA; 07-31-2021 at 11:34 AM.

The whole Fiend character and entrance is really made for a live crowd. He barely got to perform in front of a live crowd before the pandemic. Now that crowds are back, they release him.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Someone nailed it, but WWE might be just redoing some deals that were bloated. It's only a potential problem for them if TK tries to get them... and really I think with DB money wasn't even the main issue, he wanted freedom to go elsewhere (Japan) that WWE wouldn't budge on.
If Vince wants him back, that's where he's going... just at a more reasonable 500K/y salary vs whatever bloated nonsense he got signed to before. Same with Braun. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

You guys need to get aware of what's happening behind the scenes - WWE is letting go of folks like Brawn & Bray because of their hefty contracts while not having an immediate use for them. The company is shedding its costs so that with the new boost in revenue from live shows, they'll seem extra profitable. And remember during the thunderdome era they figured out how to be extra, extra lean. So their profit margins should be looking extra padded these days.
And the only reason to make yourself look super profitable in just a short period of time? If you're about to enter negotiations for a sale. There's also talk that WWE isn't renewing its Fox contract that ends in 2 years (like they're not actively taking the steps to renew it which they would normally start pretty soon).
All of this points to WWE about to be sold to NBC/Universal. At least that's how I see itLast edited by LurkoLantern; 08-01-2021 at 08:05 AM.

pretty sure everyone here is aware of that, but that doesn't stop people from discussing the horrible writing/decision making on wwe tv.
personally don't think there will ever be a time in my life where wwe is not profitable, but in the next 10 years, aew's domestic box office will be doing better numbers.heart also wants what the dick wants

You do see ex-WWE guys but they also filter in a ton of non-WWE talent, constantly. All these New Japan stars, the guys/gals from Impact coming over and such. Plus, if they do land Bryan Danielson or CM Punk -- those aren't WWE rejects, those are top guys. Same when they grabbed Moxley, this was a guy who would have been a world champion again at some point had he stuck around WWE, not some tired used up guy who'd been jobbed for years before being discarded.
This thread is about Wyatt, and he's not my particular cup of tea, but should AEW get him, he's just coming off a feud at the tippy top with a character people were into and thought was misused. It'd be a good signing for them, IMO.
This discussion would warrant it's own thread but were this sale to happen, it's the death of WWE.
Everything about it I dislike, the ridiculous focus on 'sports entertainment' vs wrestling, the safe sterile atmosphere, the scripted promos, etc... all that would be ramped up further and done executed by Jim Herd-esque people with no understanding of wrestling. All truth passes through three stages. I thought the wwe was all set to be taken over by Stephanie McMahon when Vince dies. If there’s a sale I wonder where that’ll leave her and triple h now.
Jusa they better be. Balance their show out with more unknown talent. Or they can lose the DS as a weekly viewer!BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

ok but we also live in a world where for the last 10-15 years, the only "names" in wrestling come from wwe or njpw.
irregardless of wether or not they are taking a similar route creatively, they have a real tv deal and they have a relationship with large and mid size venues all over the usa due to the khan family's concert promotion business.

Who is the last guy the WWE signed and built up into a star from scratch? Reigns? And look how dedicated to that they had to be for several years. The majority of their top guys are guys from ROH, Impact, NJPW.
The problem with TNA wasn’t that they signed WWE guys, it’s that they signed everybody and immediately pushed them over talent that they’d already spent time establishing.
Also, the Vince Russo storylines were trash, so it wasn’t good tv regardless of the talent.
AEW has been far more disciplined about sticking to its plans with its talent and building to logical conclusions with its storylines.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

Can anyone give me some back story?
I haven’t watched wrestling in a decade but actually enjoy reading the stories in this forum.
The Wyatt family stick always seemed new and original to me and was a nice change a pace from the vanilla stuff they had been putting out (kind of reminiscent of the undertaker during the hulk days). Why did they fizzle out so quickly?
Thanks and reps for srs responses.

The Wyatt Family was his peak. Problem was he never won any matches. It was impossible to take him seriously because he never won any matches. So, had to keep reinventing himself, but he still never won any matches. His last reinvention was The Fiend, which was garbage because in the ring because he was super slow and just no-sold everything. It was boring. Then they gave his gimmick to Alexa Bliss and made it even dumber.

He’s not AJ Styles but he doesn’t suck in the ring. And they sold the gimmick—they made millions off of all the merchandising they did.
They just booked him like an unbeatable monster for months and then Vince got a wild hair up his ass and decided to have Goldberg come in and beat him in two minutes to set up a Wrestlemania match nobody cared about.
So incompetent booking shot his gimmick in the kneecaps before a worthwhile payoff.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

To me, he is extremely boring in the ring. Fat and slow. Just going thru the motions in the ring. He was given the belt twice(both gimmicks) but not many cared.
He is just an entrance/gimmick wrestler, but when the bell rings… just another fat wrestler with mediocre skills.CHRISTMAS Forever Crew
