No. People have always been able to join by emailing admins and stating that they had been on misc before.

If you go to the forums on incognito mode, you'll see misc is still unlisted.

Just tried to search an old 2014 thread of mine so I could link to a relevant thread just posted and found it’s been deleted. Searched for a bunch of other old threads and they’re gone too. So much lulz and also information has disappeared into the depths of the interwebs. Interestingly, my post count hasn’t gone down.
