I saw a few threads regarding doing 72 hour fasts for not only cutting but other health benefits. I was wondering if anyone here, that actually does this, knows what to eat specifically and how much to eat every 72 hours? I never tried this before and thought I'd give it a go for chits and giggles. Normally when I cut I just do -300 calories and adjust every week but I wanted to try something new.
My current cutting routine is basically 2100 cals + an hour of cardio. Try to get in 200g protein. It's worked wonders in the past but I always like to try everything once. no homo.

I made a thread earlier today, completed 72 hours of fasting:

If you do some research, you might find different type of answers as to "what's the best to eat for breaking fast", "post fast food", blah, blah.
The most general opinion is to avoid eating too heavy after the fast, as well as avoiding too many carbs. Avoid "dirty" food they say...
What I ate was: Ate 1 banana and drank 1 liter of water mixed with bone broth powder with some parsley and Himalayan salt. This honestly tasted amazing.
Then 1 hour later, I ate a huge bowl of lentil soup with some meat in it, as well as spinach, rucola and cucumber on the side salad with lemon and some spices.
Finished the evening now with a couple of kiwis and some green grapes...
I am feeling fresh and will go back to eating "normal" again tomorrow. Normal meaning in general healthy stuff, but not always

its the perfect opportunity to reprogram yourself away from carbs
probably not even a good idea to eat a bunch of high gi stuff after being fasted that long
id go with scrambled eggs with breakfast sausage (no maple) and cheese on it with a side of bacon. use a small carb balance tortilla and stuff it all in if you are a weak bish."If you don't vote for me you ain't black!" - Plantation Joe Biden

72 hours isn't so long that you can like seriously hurt yourself by gorging on garbage, but I would avoid crap like a pizza.
If you want to go easy, do some bone broth. Maybe some fruit. Steamed vegetables. See how you feel, so a little more. Work up to steak and eggs or whatever you normally eat.
I would strongly avoid processed junk, sugar or alcohol, of course. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I do every 4 months a 72h fast, be careful with refeeding syndrome that's an hallpass straight to the bathroom. I would suggest that you break your fast with a small portion of lean protein such as white fish or salmon. NEVER reintroduce vegetables at first, you will suffer from massive bloating, only lean proteins. When you will feel hungry after breaking your fast you can slowly reintroduce fats with thing such as eggs. I can not put so much emphasis on don't eat too much, you don't want to feel crap and having a bad time on the toilet.

I finished my 72 hours fast for the first time yesterday. I broke it with 1 banana as I said, and some bone broth mixed in boiled water. Went fine
Then I ate some lentil soup with meat and a bowl of spinach, rucola and cucumber. I had to run to the bathroom in the middle of the eating, lmao. I was PISSING ****, and that went on for at least 5-6 trips later that night. No bloating though from the spinach, cucumber or rucola. Also had 1 nan bread with the meal.
Any other tips? Why are you doing it every 4 months and not every 2 months for instance?

When fasting I drink salted water with pink Himalayan salt it help me feel not weak as hell. I have to agree when you break your fast if you load on salt as I do the other day, the amount of piss is quiet terrible still your body need plenty of salt when it's in ketosis, were you feeling hungry on the second day. I had to force myself to break my fast, I wasn't feeling hungry at all. 72h fast are quite hard to do mentally and physically even though you reach that amazing mental clarity. Why I am doing at every 4 month is mostly due to the fact that I do daily intermittent fasting on a daily basis and at first it was to fully heal my mucosal layer. Since intermittent fasting on daily basis, I don't feel the need to do such frequent recovery of my mucosal layer. I mostly do it for anti-aging properties and reconnecting with food that we take for granted.

I was actually thinking of doing this repeatedly. As in, I would eat every 72 hours basically. I've seen a few threads on it, not sure if I was being trolled or not, but they would post articles about the health benefits, not just the fat loss. I think I'll break fast with a bone broth soup and then incorporate green vegetables and lean protein . I'm kind of excited to see how everything will taste. The longest fast i've done is 48 hours and even celery tasted absolutely amazing .
I see a few people here say to eat at caloric maintenance for the day, so I'll do that. I was wondering if I was supposed to eat well over my maintenance.

Same reason coffee does it in the morning. Muscles from your stomach throughout your digestive track contract and sometimes rapidly move things along.
^^^ above guy talking about doing this repeatedly... meh, be careful. Fasting is a stressor on your body. You will be better off from it in the long run but just like anything else, give yourself time to recoop.

Bone Broth is a fad, yep. Just something gentle.
I do 40 hour fasts once in a while. I can tell you what NOT to eat. Do not start with oatmeal. It will run through you faster than morning coffee.
Absolutely unsustainable. At most you should do a 72 hour fast 4 x a year. 36 hours once a week? Sure if you want to lose some weight. But you're going to lose muscle if you do 72 hour fasts. Look up John Berardi's mini book on fasting.

AFAIK there's actually no chance of refeeding syndrome from a 40 to 72 hour fast. Humans throughout history involuntarily fasted longer than that and ate anything they wanted upon finding food.
On the contrary: a lot of the early fasters were always recommending fruit to break a fast even though the science is against that.
If you're a bitch then just eat meat and leafy greens.
