https://screenrant.com/ps5-launch-sa...-most-history/The PS5 had the biggest console launch in US history, but the numbers are more impressive than anyone realized. According to VGChartz, the PS5 had the best global launch month sales for any console in gaming history. The PS5 sold 3,368,098 units, while the Xbox Series X/S sold 1,817,303. For reference, the Nintendo Switch sold 2,117,081 during its launch month back in 2017.

That doesn't make any sense. The only reason scalpers can make money is if there is more demand than supply. The supply is the max you can sell. Scalpers buying them doesn't create more sales when there are only a certain number of units to buy and the demand far exceeds the supply.
Virtually every PS5 and Xbox Series X were sold this holiday season. Niether could be found anywhere. Really same for switch also.
What is obvious is that Sony made more PS5s than Xbox made series x. Friend of mine works at gamestop and there wasn't a switch, PS5, or Xbox series X available anywhere in the country and he had tons of people on a list to call when he got either xbox series x a ps5 in.

That's an interesting way to look at it. With that logic, scalpers are only buying a unit for every unit they sell. This would make a pretty inefficient scalper.
I can guarantee you that is not the case, even if it were the pure fact of fear of missing out drives sales even further (regardless of your theory, it has no doubt played a massive part).
Something you can think about.
Care to explain? Am only aware of that tech demo/game thing to show off the vibrators and Demon Souls remake.

Imagine having a smooth enough brain to think this is significant when it's been a hot scalper item along with the Series X and every game console is always sold out everywhere.
...and this is hardly well after the launch period, I was talking about when production stabilizes which it obviously hasn't for Sony or Microsoft. Heck even Nintendo has been struggling to stabilize their production lately.

You seriously trying to act like the Switch hasn't been selling when there has been articles all year about the insane demand it has had with it constantly being sold out throughout all of 2020 and Nintendo struggling to meet that demand? Heck the Switch is still in such high demand that you can only buy it off scalpers on Amazon right now and all the big store chains are currently sold out.

Globally yeah, PS5 is outselling Xbox. I think PS% outsold everywhere except for like China and Mexico, so take that as you will if it even matters. But for US sales, they were pretty much even, it was the global sales that killed Microsoft and that's where they need to make progess, so their exclusives coming out this year and next year might help with that. A game like Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 if made exclusive to Xbox, even if for a year or something like the crap that Sony pulls with CoD and other games, would in my opinion cause a huge surge in Xbox sales.
But I don't get why people keep bringing up the Switch against Xbox/PS5. It's its own beast in terms of sales and cannot be compared to the larger consoles. It will always sell well as their exclusives will keep raking in dough.*Mechanical Engineering Crew*
