She buys groceries(and does the shopping), pays for hulu/amzn prime, and buys all the furniture. Her vehicle is paid, but when she wants a new one she'll pay the monthly on that too...or just buy it straight up ayy lmao

I pay for everything. She takes care of kid. Laundry, most shopping, cleaning. Works out great. Sleep as long as I want every day. Made her quit a 30k a year job because I easily covered it in OT and it wasn't worth the child care or waking up to an alarm. All finances are in my name.

I don't understand why so many married couples have separate accounts in this thread? My parents and all my aunts, uncles, etc all have joint accounts, deposit their money into the accounts, and pay bills through that.

Wife does most house chores, husband does yard work or labor intensive tasks, both cook depending on work schedules, etc.

No wonder so many marriages fail nowadays. No one is a team anymore and base everything off how much each other makes and have separate accounts.

My ex wife and I basically combined incomes like a married couple right off the bat of moving in together. We acted as one unit made of two people.

That was easily one of the dumbest things I've ever done in my life. Would not legit fully join finances with anyone again even if I ever remarried. If I had a live-in girlfriend, I'd ask her to pay me 50% of my mortage, utility bills, groceries, and other mutual goods like cleaning supplies. I would continue paying for all house work/tools/etc. related stuff while simply expecting her to do her share of the house work/chores. If she wanted me to marry her, I'd expect a prenump safeguarding 100% of my house and future equity to me and me alone. Would never be conned into moving to a different house with her so she could rip me off in divorce easily due to it then being a post marriage joint asset.

What you don't understand is that when husband and wife have some underlying resentment due to little disagreements or fights, they will look for things to fight about. And majority of the time, it's going to about why you bought what you bought and how you're spending your money.

One of the biggest things couples complain about is losing their identity after marriage. Everything becomes one. If you maintain your own finances in a cohesive manner with your partner, you're able to keep one thing separate which, in my opinion, draws you closer.

A lot of things he buys are wasteful in my opinion, but I don't say anything because it's his money and he can do what he wants with it as long as it's not haram.

We do 50/50, but our bills in relation to our take home is miniscule. I make about 12k/year more than she does but even with a $1,300 mortgage, $620/month car payment (hers) and my $500/month student loan payment, our bills (including cell, utilities and insurance) total 19% of our combined take home monthly.

She has her account, I have my account and we share a joint account that is funded by DD from both of us on payday....we pay all bills from that account and have our own money for whatever we want in our separate accounts.

I would never completely combine accounts and she's done that before and he drained her, so she wont do it again. Works out nicely.

60/40 on both rent and bills, with a roommate agreement contract we created and signed that states we'll transition to 50/50 on a specific date and going forward in 2021. As for groceries/food we do 50/50 mostly.

If she is doing a majority of the stuff at home(cleaning/cooking/laundry) then you should pay more money towards the bills to balance that out. Home chores and chit are annoying, and it's a blessing to have someone taking care of that ****. In your case I think 60/40 or 65/35 is a fair split.

I'm employed full time making a decent salary, he makes about 40k more than I do. I take care of everything related to the house in terms of chores and taking care of him, and he's responsible for the bills and mortgage. To us, that's an even split.
