At first I didn’t hate it, I thought people that didn’t like it maybe didn’t get the zen appeal.
But as good as it looks and the construct is quite authentic feeling, it just doesn’t have the magic of the first one.
It became a chore I guess.
Gameplay style is so outdated that the graphics can’t hold it up, and instead of the cheeky humor, we get woke virtue signaling.
The politics are guilty of putting everything through the liberal lens and world view and constantly putting modern views into a world that didn’t have it.
Protagonist is a essentially ruined by being woke in a modern way so he can’t possibly be a badass cowboy because he is woke.
Way too many topics about race or gender instead of badass funny stories and characters.
As a simulation it’s dense but as a game it lacks flavor.
It’s no Final Fantasy XV that’s for sure. Fishing in that game was way more zen.
The RPG elements are also way too slow and all based on getting “clean” animal skins which is kinda weirdly hard to figure out from the game alone. You don’t really need any of the stuff you can get either since you can kill the whole game with a starting pistol.
Don’t even feel like finishing it. The politics leave a bad taste and ruin the cowboy immersion vibe and the rest is kinda flat and empty as a game.
Rockstar is dead to me

Honestly, RDR2 kinda sucks and gets quite political/anti-American as it gets going

first of all, you're too pretentious for your own good.
second of all, i don't really disagree with some of your points.
i still haven't finished it and i think that's made the game better, cause it's been really spread out. i would say it did feel pretty "chorey"
what really disappointed me is that at one point i thought the game was going great. like it was fuken AWESOME, and was really looking forward to it but then it decided to change the story from there and make you leave that area.
i liked when you first got to the big city. everything was really intriguing. i thought getting dressed to play the high stakes poker game on the boat was cool, but shortly after you leave the city again on the run. and then it's just another series of short stays and going on the run repeated
i stoppedSpoiler!

Does it suck? No, it's just absolutely not for me. I mean the production value is one of the best I've ever seen, but I got tired of it in the first couple of hours. Waaay too much riding around to pad the gameplay and retarded chit like I mentioned. The shooting part also felt off. Didn't play the first one, RDR2 came with the PS in a bundle. I'll give you that I'm biased af as the whole Western thing does nothing for me.

Try RDR. You may still enjoy it. It's not plagued with the same "realism" RDR2 has. Basically, RDR is like GTA:SA and RDR2 is like GTA:4. RDR still has more arcadey controls, more lighthearted side quests, just the right amount of space and exploration, and a great story with one of the best video game endings of all time. Try it srs.

Funny because I had similar experiences with GTA:SA and GTA:4, absolutely loved SA but ditched 4 after the third bowling session or so.
I might give it a try next year if it will be playable on PS5. I'm in the middle of switching countries for work and passed my PS4 - that I haven't turned on for months - to my brother, but since we're looking forward to months of lockdown bs I think I'll have some time to spend on games.

SA is still the best GTA, but 5 was close. I finished 4 because I bought it and felt obligated, but I didn't even like it more than vice city. How do you take fun, arcade style driving and ruin it with realism? Who the **** plays for realism? Then I gotta fly out my car because my seat belt wasn't on? Sure, it was funny the first few times but come the fuk on.

Lol, calls it anti american but doesnt explain why he thinks its that way.
Game is boring, but not for any of the reasons you say. Its boring because Morgan takes hours upon hours falling out with Dutchs way. That cycle of "why are we doing this dutch?" is a chore to get through. The best parts of your game shouldn't be free roamingPSN E-Go

The whole reason I bought an Xbox One was to get this game. I was so excited because I loved the first one more than anything. It was like a grown up version of the PS2 game GUN, which was amazing. Then I got it. Beautiful yeah. Gorgeous. But it slogged in its realism.
- But I gave it a shot! I really did. The first time I was in town I bumped into someone, sending them scurrying off to the law. I had heard on forums that if you run then you are judged as guilty, but if you stay you can talk your way out of a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, I was instantly arrested and spent the night in jail.
- I spent the next evening in town...at the brothel. I worked for quite some time to elicit even the slightest hint of a handy, but was left aching in a bathtub. Realism my ass.
- Every once in a while I toss it back on the TV and give it another shot. Once during a re-trial period I hunted down a bounty that was far from town. Along the way I ran across a train station full of people. I figured I'd go check it out so it would show up on my map for later and I'd come back. People were talking and it was fun to hear their conversations. One of the options I could do to a guy next to me was "rub." I thought "rub" wtf? When I stopped gigglingin the dark, I said sure lets "rub" the guy (no homo). Apparently, I need a bigger TV or glasses because immediately after hitting the button I find myself ROBBING the man in front of a half dozen witnesses. I take off as fast as I can but am pursued by never-ending squads of police/bounty hunters who don't stop until I'm dead.
- I do enjoy jumping horses off cliffs and setting up elaborate murder schemes for my horse. It made me laugh when talking to an old friend who used the same horse the entire game and he almost teared up when describing some part where it gets killed.
