Because God is an ideal. Something for people to emulate that fosters better communication and harmony regardless of background.
Take the simple act of saying grace before a meal. You aren't just giving thanks to God for providing a supper. You are making sure everyone is present in the moment and ready to start the meal off together. Much nicer than having random people in the kitchen grabbing food whenever they feel like it.Motorcycle crew

I don't feel the need to change anyone's mind. For conversation's sake, isn't it interesting how ancient civilizations always felt the need to worship a higher power; often depicting said powers as people (with superpowers/stories, not something, say, extra terrestrial or so foreign that we never even imagined it before). I'd argue that was their vision of perfection.

Sin causes cancer? Hmm.
That's not the lessons of Ecclesiastes and Job, imo...which is more that the nature of our being involves pain, suffering and loss.
Because it's our being, we still love God who provides it...more as a brute fact.
More...stoical I guess...perhaps more relatable like Marcus Aurelius put it that man's nature is to work and have discomfort, so we should not bemoan that we are of our own nature more than the animals complain that they have their suffering in their own daily lives.
Man's being is subject to disease, immoral pressures of society towards war and crimes, and natural disasters.
Job wasn't afflicted by Satan in the bible because of sin...rather, that God apparently feels it's ok for man to suffer. God's not beholden to the wants of comfortable living that we would prefer most.EX IGNORANTIA AD SAPIENTIAM
