Thinking of getting Samsung Odyssey G9 (Advice)

For the unaware it's the curviest 49 inch super ultrawide monitor 240 hz 1 ms at 5120 x 1440

I found a local shop selling it so I'm thinking of financing it but I don't have a good GPU

What kind of GPU would be adequate to run this beast? Will I have to get top of the line RTX 3090 when it's released or will an RTX 2080 TI be enough?

I'm either going to get RTX 2080 TI at a price drop or shill more for RTX 3000 card, but I'm looking to spend the minimalist amount possible on GPU

If this is for gaming, you'd probably want a top tier video card. Its 1440p, but the extra pixels on the wide end of the super ultrawide still have to be accounted for, so its not like your standard 1440p monitor.

ESPECIALLY if you want to take advantage of 240hz. 240hz isn't 240hz if you are getting 120fps using a mid tier card

    Theyre junk.

Hold off until they can address the manufacturing challenges. The problems with failing adhesives, dead pixels, and faulty assembly are so bad that, I believe, samsung placed a hold on sales. Im surprised your local retailer even has stock

Thanks. I've read about manufacturing problems. I'll hold off until I see updates.

saw one on display and it looks like chit compared to my CX, if you need extra real estate for work then a CX + a 27" in portrait mode is a better option imo. I can't see even the 3080ti making 240hz work so 120hz is fine for this gen for me

Yea the CX is probably the best TV now for gaming. I don't like using two monitors because I don't want to see the bezels I want the super ultrawide for the immersion.
