Need new (to me) commuter car. Looking at Honda accords. Any years/models to avoid?

Going to look for a used Accord for commuting. Just wondering if there are any years/models/engines you guys would recommend avoiding. Probably get automatic, maybe manual if the right one comes up as I won't be stuck in bumper to bumper traffic much.

Don't get the 1.5T, and don't get the CVT.

Meaning get the 2.0T with the 10 speed auto.

You haven't really given much info other than you're looking for Accord...they been making those things for like 30 yrs now.

Avoid 00-09 v6 with auto, manual is fine. 4cyl auto are ok

If you're looking 09+ they're fine for the most part. Still get manual if you can, will be cheaper on maintenance if you plan to keep long term. Also since you're looking at Accords, maybe consider Acura TL/TSX/TLX/ILX since they're very similar just more fancy and can be found for around same price.

And as mentioned above, don't get CVT.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

I had a 2009 Accord (4cyl auto) and I currently drive a 2015 Accord (4cyl cvt) for my business. I had both since new. The 2015 has been mostly reliable at 60K miles, but I meticulously maintain all my cars. It drives decent for a sedan. I did have to go to the dealerships a few times for recalls and minor non-mechanical issues. However the car has rattles since day 1. I went to the dealership a few times to fix it, but something new pops every few months so I gave up on that. In fact, I would argue my Jeep Wrangler is more quiet than my Accord.

The 2009 is far superior in build quality. It has been a solid car and the wind noise is manageable as opposed to the 2015. I have not driven the new Accords yet because I don't think I will buy another Honda again, unless they come up with a new S2000 or something.

Good point. Was thinking 2010-2017, as don't need something new for a commuter. End goal is reliability to get lots of miles out of it. V6 makes more sense to me with regards to having a bit of power on the highway, but not sure if the V4 would be better.

So older one seems more reliable. What would you look at next time instead of accord?

Ideally a 1990-1993 ex manual would be legit.

Car is rock solid and runs forever!
