I have zero issues with how they handled it. The press can stfu, and the protesters showed what they were made of.

No I have not. I was raised in a household with many guns and learned gun safety and how to handle one but other than the many pellet guns I had when I was little I have never shot one.

If you own a gun you need to train to handle a weapon properly then you'll at least come close to mimicking that training in stressful situations.

She had her finger on the trigger and flagged her hubby multiple times. I think that should be called out. Far too many gun owners simply buy a gun, shoot it on a lane at the range, and then lock it up with no other training being done.

I didn’t defend the mob nor say these two are racist. There is obviously nothing wrong with showing a presence and trying to deter looting by indicating your home is guarded. They absolutely have the right to defend themselves, but as a gun owner, they also have a responsibility to practice gun discipline at the same time. Neither of these two had it.

I don't disagree, you’re right. But I don’t think it's too much to ask for gun owners to exercise safety. Rights come with responsibilities. I don't think we should celebrate someone who exercises the former with complete disregard to the latter.

I get what you are saying, but it is easy to judge if you aren't in that situation. I imagine that they were pretty scared - trying to process the mob dynamics while their physiological anxiety levels are through the roof didn't leave a lot of reserve for thinking about exercising proper safety methods. Even responsible safety-minded gun owners might waver from best practices when under highly stressful situations. You should give 'em a break bruh....

How long does it take to aim? How much space was there between that crowd and the homeowners? Plenty of time to point at a threat when one occurred.

I say that fully understanding situations are dynamic and the fear that couple felt is real. It doesn't change the fact they should keep their weapons pointed in a safe direction until they need to fire their weapons in self defense.

I will not judge them. The best trained folks who never had to do it for real, Still do not know what they would do.

I would say 99% if even the best “range” trained gun owners never get as close as these two did, to actually taking that one last step.

Im fine with “observing” that they could have under different circumstances been more in tune to the situation. 20/20 hindsight is nice, isn’t it.

I’m absolutely not fine with the fcking media making fun of them, calling them all sorts of names. They called the police. Did that help? It rarely does.

Fact: The homeowners were the only two people in the situation that had a legal right to be there. They were also in legal possession of those weapons. The constitution does not specify how much, or the type of training required to own a weapon, and it shouldn’t.

So, unless the media, or the internet meme gods have first hand experience, they ought to report the facts, as I did in the paragraph above this one.

I agree with it as well and I agree with you on compulsory face covering through legislation. IMO, it's almost impossible to police, more trouble that its worth and people tend to get their back up when told they have to do something. It's highly recommended in my area and from what I see the vast majority comply. Way more masks than not.

All of the study links to virus spread, some using flu, or h1n1 shows that masks would have little effectiveness either transmitting or getting the virus.

It does of course stop large particulate from cough or sneeze. But those large particles are not the ones that hang around in the air and fall to the ground quickly. The aerosolized particles, the ones they are warning about now staying for long periods of time indoors, are not mitigated by cloth masks. In fact the cloth masks can contribute to further aerosolization of larger particles.
