what is this training "focusing" on if any? Or what was outlined in the "course" description other than what you shared?
inb4 she is the strongest in her school.....
related note to weekend plans
finally got this sum bish sighted in.
RPR .338 lapua magnum
burris sig rings
vortex golden eagle scope
took like 4 sets of batteries for the bore sighting. Guy had a .338 mag laser that was placed in the bore to bore sight it. no idea that existed, and was really cool. Too bad each set of batteries was only good for maybe 5 min before we had to change them out.
Took about 5 tries/exchanges of the adjustable cants to get the 100yrd zero. "gun room" with the gun vice, and then back out to the range. Whole thing of getting it zero'd took about 5 hours.
also dumped a few 9mm down range to make sure i wasn't forgetting what i learned at mag40, and things are still good.

Hm....so I’m thinking about picking up another pistol can. GA has a $200 manufacturer rebate as a store credit going on right now for their Revolution 45s.
The only problem is that credit is going towards some crazy overpriced product on their site, and the only things I’d consider buying is a 9mm piston and maybe a 9mm end cap.Creator of:

Range safety employees make me laugh.
Went shooting with my dad. And I lowered my sunglasses on my nose and use my binoculars to check our hits, then slide them back up. when I’m done. and this FUDD McFarland comes up and tells me that eye protection has to be worn the whole time.
Like wtf dude. Go bother someone else.

Supreme Court basically has chosen to deny all of the 2A cases that they could have ruled on... Would RBG kicking the bucket and replacing her even matter? It would basically make it 5.5 conservative judges to 3.5 liberal judges.

Anyone else see that press conference for that guy that got shot "in the back" after shooting a taser at a cop? it abruptly ended when the guy's cousin was like NAH! NAH! and then started ranting "YOU TOOK MY COUSIN, NAH NAH" then had to be restrained. then got pushed off the side, I think this is gonna fuel the protesters even more.

Thomas & Kavanaugh not happy . . .
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tho...cond-amendment
Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanagh on Monday admonished their fellow justices for letting Second Amendment cases languish in the lower courts in a dissent to the tribunal's decision not to take up a gun rights case.
"This Court would almost certainly review the constitutionality of a law requiring citizens to establish a justifiable need before exercising their free speech rights. And it seems highly unlikely that the Court would allow a State to enforce a law requiring a woman to provide a justifiable need before seeking an abortion," Thomas wrote, in an opinion joined by Kavanaugh. "But today, faced with a petition challenging just such a restriction on citizens’ Second Amendment rights, the Court simply looks the other way."
Thomas also detailed the backlog of similar cases in lower courts that have led to split decisions on what restrictions a state may place on a person seeking a permit to carry a gun in public.
"The Courts of Appeals are squarely divided on the constitutionality of these onerous 'justifiable need' or 'good cause' restrictions. The D. C. Circuit has held that a law limiting public carry to those with a 'good reason to fear injury to [their] person or property' violates the Second Amendment," he said. "By contrast, the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Circuits have upheld the constitutionality of licensing schemes with 'justifiable need' or 'good reason' requirements, applying what purported to be an intermediate scrutiny standard."
Such a split between the circuits is generally one of the most compelling reasons for the Supreme Court to take up a case, and is actually laid out in the tribunal's official rulebook.*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*

^I'd be up for the Supreme Court to rule on some 2A stuff for sure; tired of so many BS laws (especially here in CA) that impose arbitrary limits.

One is none, and two is still none if you don't know how to use it.
No one teaches small unit tactics. Part of this is that outside of military and law enforcement there aren't a whole lot of small units operating out there. From the perspective of a family, a husband and wife who have quality training can learn small unit tactics and apply them. That same couple is going to have a hard time if their weapons' experience is limited to square range shooting from prone or bench.
Positional shooting as a base, presentations, cadence, multiple targets, shooting on the move (this was basically what the whole class was really about), shooting from cover, positional shooting from cover, choosing cover, transitions. Class culminated in doing all of those things together at the same time.Florida Crew as of 3/21

Dude, throw the boresighter away. Your scope has 55 MOA of travel. Half of that (optical center) is 27.5 MOA. With a 0 MOA rail, optical center has you ~27.5 MOA from end of range, with a 20 MOA rail, you can dial down 20 MOA and have a "rough zero". This will give you 47 MOA of adjustment.
For your current setup, unless you're using a very distant zero, there isn't much point to the Burris rings unless your system has an alignment issue.
That's waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much scope for a .338 shooting out in the world. Sell it and get something in the 5-25 range with more adjustment if you want to shoot really far away.Last edited by Ikeman83; 06-15-2020 at 06:24 PM.

Okay. Read at your own risk it doesn't matter to me one way or the other
I have an uncle. He's by far the youngest of his generation, I'm oldest of mine, so he's only 12 years older. Great guy, incredibly nice and helpful always, fantastic athlete, like Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii three times (9 hrs 49 mins best), Boston Marathon, allll kinds of other lesser competitions, etc (bike was strong suit, just a monster). Mechanical Engineer, and a damn good one. He always came to all of the family's functions. Thanksgiving every year forever, weddings, graduations, open houses, you name it, if anybody came, he was there. He always came alone, not married, no family, never brought a significant other. Some of us suspected/thought pretty likely he was gay. Others in the family apparently didn't pick it up. I was sure he was, he just was. So anyway
He was struck and killed by a vehicle while out riding last week.
And that's how we found out he had a partner. For the last 16 years. Sixteen years. And nobody in our family even knew this guy existed. Why would he hide so much of his life so hard for so long? We all figure probably his dad just wouldn't accept it. Isn't that some shit. His celebration of life was today, so I few out to Texas for it. The airport and airplanes were interesting, masks, covid, I went all out with that but whatever that's a different topic.
So our second GSD had the cancer with the spleen out six weeks ago, given 2-8 weeks to live as of like 6.5 weeks ago. I booked the flight out on Friday, for yesterday. Dog didn't eat breakfast yesterday, was gradually worse over the course of the day. I decided people > pets and I'd never even met this guy or his family I didn't know existed for sure for sixteen years, I gotta. Well, dog didn't do well last night. Wife took her in to have her put down this morning. It was done during the ceremony for my uncle. Last thing I did was leave the house with cancer dying dog who is as with the first one my dog (if you asked her, anyway), staring at me with a I'm dying don't leave me face as I left and never came back.
Also, it was my son's 5th birthday. And my uncle's partner is the nicest dude anybody is capable of being.

Yeah IDK either
So, mundane stuff. Airports are interesting. I went through Atlanta and Houston. Almost every vendor inside is closed, and I mean pretty much everything. The newsstands, convenience type places, food, snacks, basically everything is closed. There was like one restaurant open the whole trip I saw, and a couple vending machines.
Lots of masks, lots of no masks. They are required on the plane with pretty solid adherence but anywhere else is up for grabs. There's no distancing at all, anywhere. Restaurants have signs up about masks and gloves being required for all employees but you look at them and they aren't wearing anything.
I checked my full size pelican so I could put my gun in it...and my own pillows. Otherwise everything was carry on but can't carry on a gun and I'll be damned if I stick my face in a hotel's pillow and breathe through it for a full night like seriously no I'll bring my own damn pillow.
I wore such an awesome full face 3m respirator (think breaking bad) that I had to take it off and put it in the bin for xray at the aiport. Didn't realize that until after my bags had already gone through the belt so I didn't even have a smaller mask to grab that you can wear to walk through. I get it I guess but, like, come the **** on with the security theater. Oh, you can have up to 12oz containers of liquid if they are hand sanitizer. But they'll put their dirty ass gloves they used on everybody elses **** all over your **** to take your bag apart to take your spray bottle of hand sanitizer out and open it and test it to make sure it isn't going to esplode the plane.

Seems my Union is finishing up negotiations, actually not too bad assuming I am reading it all correctly. 1 day furlough, but 12 hours on the books (4.5% pay reduction). They also then suspend a deduction to retirement healthcare that would allow us to keep 4% more pay, so net loss of .5%.
Suspending a 3% raise we were supposed to get, no more shift differentials, 7 less paid Holidays, State covers a .54% increase to medical, and we lose 1 (of the 2) personal development days (paid days off) they give us per year.
All in all that is not too bad. They are dumb though, so many are just going to retire now before this kicks in, about 100 at my prison alone, so they are going to be paying out the ass for a lot of people who are no longer paying in to the retirement. Those 12 hours we get will also cost them a lot more than if they just didn't touch us at all, 12 hours paid time off instead of just paying us for 8.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

in for that. firing when "out of breath" and in "awkward" but more than likely real life situations, ie cover and awkward crouching/covering, very good to get familiar with.
Lol. I remember going back and forth with all the math with you a bit ago and you recommended the burris rings i have. Plus, none of us are that great, but we got it figured out from what the rings manual said, and with the 20 moa on the rail standard.
I don't/won't shoot long distance often, so that's why i went w/ the .338 to start with. Looking at going to out to South Dakota to shoot a mile. Plus, here in SE MI, metro det, i don't have much, if any, options for a decent range with 100yrd plus. Had it bore sighted at around 50 yrd, and it's 0'd at 100yrd. So not very distant, but don't have access to much, any more. But should easy enough for adjustments further starting at 100yrdthe above post is not serious and is for entertainment purposes only.
