I DO agree it's pretty stupid that they're ignoring any social distancing or safety measures in a show of defiance, there's literally nothing to lose by at least wearing a mask but if the virus spreads among them their whole protest could backfire. Imagine Newsom would happily justify prolonged lockdowns if the protest became infectious hotspots.
I DON'T agree things will never go back to normal for a virus that has a 1% chance of killing those infected, at some point people will say enough is enough with the strict measures if they clearly aren't working and aren't worth derailing life for.

The only retards clamoring for things to stay shut forever are either:
A. Have a job they can work from home.
B. Have a job labeled "essential," and are still permitted to go to work.
C. Already have enough money to last the rest of their lives (Whollyweird actors, sports entertainers, the multi-generational wealthy, retired elderly, etc.).
D. Are perpetual government welfare or entitlement program recipients. or
E. Got their application for unemployment through the system before it was completely overwhelmed, and are enjoying getting paid for doing nothing.
It represents a complete lack of empathy for millions of people. I have yet to see anyone without an income who can't put food on the table for their families or pay their mortgage or rent begging for the lockdowns to continue. If you are still getting paid and demanding that others not be permitted to work, please kindly STFU.

But when too much caution = destroying the economy I think they'll have trouble getting re-elected.
The longer this shutdown continues without a downward trajectory the less effective it looks.
I imagine the public reaching a collective breaking point with this quarantine if it's prolonged while cases keep rising regardless, and public officials look bad after they destroyed everything to accomplish so little.
Worst case scenario for politicians is the public determining this reaction was not worth it.

I am an essential worker and a government worker and my job has been relatively unaffected from this, except for even government essential workers are seeing massive budget cuts.
I am VERY against staying shut down longer.
1) no one who wants things to stay shut down realizes we are only VERY beginning to see the effects of this on the economy, most are clueless how many people will be pushed into poverty because this.
2) 100% of them listen to the media like its an unbiased source trying to give useful information and regurgitating it word for word, they dont even realize all they are doing is re stating things they heard from the news, heard from friends regurgitating the news, or read on an online news article.
3) Every fukking person I have talked to even in New York says they dont know anyone with corona virus or VERY few people, and none of them bad enough to be hospitalized. I am not saying its not happening, but its not happening NEARLY as much as people think
4) at SOME POINT freedom and financial security outweigh a death toll from a natural cause. We dont ban car use to avoid traffic deaths and DWIs do we? so this whole argument of "omg if you want things to open you're okay with people dying!!!!" is the same as " you want people to drive cars so you are okay with people dying from accidents and DWIs!!!!!" its the same fukking thing. At what point do we weigh its worth driving a car even if there are casualties?**worthless college major crew**

Just FYI:
Out of everyday that this has been going on from beginning until now a STAGGERING 2% of the whole population of New York City, the most highly infested place of this massively contagious deadly virus has been infected by corona virus.
Lets live in fear and not even step outside of our front door for a 2% chance of catching this virus, which even then when you catch it has a .5% mortality rate. Meanwhile still 98% of New York City is still not infected by the virus at all.
Now lets move to other places where there are not nearly as many people, nearly as close together, or nearly as highly infected as New York City, like California outside of LA and freak out even more about it.
If you live in fear over a 2% risk of getting a virus with a low mortality rate, you either dont understand statistics or are a miserable person who is way to susceptible to the media's fear propaganda.**worthless college major crew**

You guys are just paying the lack of "social laws" in your country.
You pay less taxes = you get less help from the government, that's it.
You lost your job ?
Find another job (even if you don't like it or get paid less) or just live with the economies you've supposedly done since you pay less taxes than some other "social" countries.
I'm not saying that some other countries are better, I'm just saying that you can't expect big help from your government.
On the other side, if ever you guys engage in a real war (with guns), you will be top number 1 with all of your gov expenses.
