Underrated - chinups, at least at my gym. It's one of the best upper body exercises you can do, and there's barely even anything to learn like in more complex lifts, yet everybody at my gym does pulldowns and seated rows.
Overrated - smith machine bench press, at least at my gym. I mean, if bench press is all you're going to do, that's one thing, but at least do it the right way."Government should stay the hell out of people's business." - Senator Barry Goldwater

SUPER OVERRATED: CRUNCHES, humans have naturally dense and strong upper abdominal areas and naturally VERY weak lower abdominal areas yet most of us dont even work our lower abs but we do set after set after set of crunches. but crunches wont build muscles, make them tighter, harder or make them more cut, but we just keep doing them....any compound exercise will annihilate the abs(especially pull ups)

At my gym:
overrated:
Bench Press
Curls
Super slow reps (I know, not an exercise but still)
Tricep Pushdowns
anything with smith machine
underrated:
squat
deadlift
I am one of three guys at my gym that squats and deadlifts. One of them lifts much more, the other has a huge upper body but can't even squat 300lbs. <sigh>

Over - I know most people swear by them but Skullcrushers have never hit the spot for me.
Under - weighted Pull ups & Dips. A lot of people do pull ups or dips but I seem to be the only one to do them weighted, the rest just seem happy to bang out the same reps each week.At 16/08/04
5'9" 187lbs
Chest 46"
Waist 32" (a little bit under now!)
Arms 17+half"
DL = 420lbs, BP = 280lbs, Squat = 345lbs
