What the people havent figured out is that once the economy opens is that those who do go shopping right away will be a far cry from the normal traffic. Then there are those who are so far behind on rent/bills to shop, further cutting down on profits. So you have these companies that got bailed out just enough to pay people and rent during the times they were closed but now cant get any customers. This is when the true layoffs begin, people will default on debt and it will get ugly.

Lol. There was a famous Canadian cell phone billing error incident years ago where an Ameribrah in Canada got a data plan that charged him one percent of one cent per kilobyte or whatever. When they overcharged him by 100x it took him HOURS on the phone to find someone who could do simple arithmetic.
Maybe it is a Canadian thing. Covfefe.Heterologously Vaccinated Superior Race Crew

It will be interesting to see further data on this as everything progresses, but I would not be surprised in the slightest if the majority of people would incur comparatively minor symptoms.
We continue learning more about how easy the virus is transmitted, as well as how much it can survive while remaining contagious, while not having an accurate time table as to how early the virus left China.
A difference in mere days has shown to make a substantial difference in spread throughout China during the initial outbreak, so we have an idea just how extraordinarily high the infection capacity is for COVID-19. However, we obviously do not know who specifically has come into contact with the virus and serves as a carrier, which includes those who are asymptomatic or don't bother reporting because they assume(d) a regular cold or flu.
The rapid rate of infection alone would expose an incalculable number of people, especially with the number of asymptomatic infected continuing along unbothered, yet still exposing everyone along their way to the virus. Yet, considering how the streets are not lined with dead in every country across the world, let alone at maximum capacity in every hospital, thus far reality supports the idea that most people exposed would not suffer the most severe effects if exposed.
To be clear, that is not to downplay the importance of preventative measures like cleanliness and hygiene or cautionary social distancing, but as far as pandemics go, this is a far call from the Horsemen of the Apocalypse bearing down on us all. The biggest concern really comes down to what it is about those who take the worst turn from the virus that stands out, other than the more obvious cases of the elderly or those who know they have an immune disorder. There could indeed be many people with autoimmune disorders and simply never knew it, and this would certainly raise awareness on the matter, although there could be other underlying health issues that raise susceptibility that need more research.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine

You can't prevent 100% of the deaths from this. The treatments we have right now are the treatments we'll have for the next year. The entire goal of keeping people at home was to not overwhelm the healthcare system (have people that would otherwise live, end up dying because there aren't enough resources). This idea we need to keep people locked in their homes for months is baffling to me. At best all you're doing is delaying the deaths of people who are going to die anyway a couple weeks or months.
Somehow there's a large group of people who think we need to stay inside for many more months. For what? Those deaths aren't preventable.

~0.4% for healthy people (under 60) would have been worse than the numbers we had from SK and China long before we even decided to shut down.
Either way, it misses the point. The primary purpose of the shutdown/distancing was to "flatten the curve." If hospitals are packed full and you still have sick people needing ICU beds pouring in, the death rate skyrockets. It is not a fixed number.Physics crew
