Ordered some 10# plates on Tues and they showed up today. It's just luck of the draw at this point. You might get lucky and find something in stock from a retailer that ships quickly, or maybe not.
I've got three outstanding orders thru Amazon for other stuff, and they've all had their delivery dates pushed back a couple times now. It's just the way things are right now.

I've gotten lucky as well. Right before this all started I was able to get a Powerblock set from Woot, then a REP barbell last week, a wheel kit from Ironmaster, and now my preacher curl pad is set to be delivered Monday. Would like to get another 275lb set of REP Equalizers, but that will likely have to wait until this all blows over.

Sneaker resellers caught on and have been slamming dumbbells. Programmed monitors + bots that add to cart and check out the second stock is available. They create and sell discord groups up to hundreds of members after the same thing. It was a good 8 years and it took a pandemic to get them into this side of flipping.

Got rid of 2 more bars today. I've still got one beater bar left that I should probably dump off. Everyone is still asking for weights and bars. I listed my VKR for a bit and it had little interest at the price I'd consider selling at.
Still pondering on the combo ghd/RH options, but I think I'm going to end up waiting. The Bells of Steel one just looks like too much of a compromise, and I'm not spending $2k on the nicer ones. What I'm actually hoping is that Titan will come out with a donkey-type attachment for their H-PND (and that it's not a crapshow like their current combo unit).

Can you image someone bringing $8,500 in cash to buy this setup?
Nice stuff for sure, but these people are shooting for the stars out there! lol

You can tell that the folks driving up the prices have no idea about the quality difference between the garbage Walmart crap and quality equipment. The prices on Blowflex dumbbells and Golds Gym spinlocks are just crazy.
I had a pair of Hampton db handles listed with two sets of lockjaw collars, and they weren't getting much interest at all while $4 Gold's Gym spinlocks are getting bid up over $50 in a couple days. I wound up canceling my auction and putting the Hamptons back on the shelf."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Cleared out my garage and found some old rusted Weider kg plates and a cheap Chinese chrome bar covered in rust. Acid soaked and painted 37.5 kilos of plates and they sold for $150 within 30 mins. I was actually offered more while the guy was on the way. The bars the worst I've even had... chrome is flaking and bubbling but the sleeves spin. I acid soaked it and oiled it and it still looks awful and I said that in the description. Have someone offering 80 for tomorrow morning pickup and if that falls through, I have a guy offering 100. Crazy times we live in.
Local shop somehow got stock from York. Placed an order for 395lb of G2 rubber plates and 300lb of rubber hex DBs(the store set limits on the amount you can purchase). I paid 932CAD for all the weights and pick up Thursday. Going to resell the DBs to cover some of the cost

If you guys havent figured this out yet, dont bother selling good stuff at the moment. People want the cheap made in china crap.
Last week, I had a younger guy stop by to check out weights/bar I was selling. The bar was an 80's york. Weights were mixed, some older yorks, some china junk. The guy didnt end up buying. He couldnt get over the fact that the bar was 40 years old, and there were some very slight "rust" on it. He was looking for a nice shiny chrome bar. Even his father that came with him sort of laughed about the bar and couldnt believe it was 40 years old. ffs
I took the weights back inside, removed all the york plates, replaced them with trash china made ones, relisted, and sold later that night for the exact price I listed the york stuff for. I was out of junk bars so sold one of my yorks.
Moral of story...95% of buyers do not care about quality stuff at the moment. Clear out all your trash equipment.

Not really hard for the seller.. get an e-transfer, put the items outside of your car or house.. tell them to stay back until you're done, once the transfer goes through, let them load the weights. The buyer risks touching something the seller has already touched, not the other way around. If an e-transfer is done, the seller risks virtually nothing. Just make sure that if you're selling out of your house that they call when they arrive instead of ringing your doorbell

Some dude used venmo the other day when buying stuff. Was only $30. Can things like venmo or cash app be reversed? I don't mess with PayPal for anything anymore, which is why I stopped selling on eBay. As a seller, you're screwed through eBay/PayPal if someone disputes anything.
edit: seems like venmo can also be reversed...which is probably also the case for cash app. Good to know. Never use this service for any high ticket items.Last edited by BulkMore; 04-13-2020 at 05:14 AM.

^^^This is accurate.
Former banker here, anything can be reversed if the customer disputes the charges. This is how it goes:
1) Customer: Those are not my charges, I want my money back.
2) Banker: Please fill out this dispute form, we will have the money back in your account within 3-5 business days (depending on the bank)Last edited by urbanlifter; 04-13-2020 at 09:02 AM.

It's a cumbersome process, but all internet transactions I receive, I copy/screenshot all communication, tracking information and even have signed signature on buyers that deemed sketchy. I've bought some items turning out to be fake and the bank's response was "go get an authorized dealer to state why this was fake." Yeah that wasn't happening and my claim didn't go through.

There are ALOT of factors at play, the situation you described is a good tactic used by banks to discourage customers from submitting claims. They either don't believe you, don't want to deal with you, or want to avoid a potential loss if they have to eat the dispute (or all of the above). Smaller financial institutions like the one I worked for would have you jockey some paperwork then just eat the loss if they couldn't reverse the transaction. They are bonded for such things and once they hit a certain threshold their insurance covers the losses incurred by fraudulent charges. Either way I'm cash only and pickup on my driveway.
