Yea obviously easy to say now, but nobody was saying that at the time.
Please bump the thread where you or anyone else was calling for kits in January.
No other country to my knowledge was doing that either. Medical experts worldwide weren't saying that(inb4 one or two exceptions)
You're expecting human beings to be psychic just because they are in the government. its taken the entire world by storm.

Singapore and Taiwan have COVID-19 contained.
We're ****ing America though. We're #1, no?
The WHO had kits. Why did we stick to making our own instead and fuk that up?أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله

what do you expect Trump to do besides listen to actual medical experts?
He's doing what is actually in his wheelhouse, which is try to stop economic collapse. But medically I dont understand what you expect trump to do. What can he do other than say "get more tests" and rely on it to get done

I don’t think this is a fair or sound argument you’re making. The CDC mailed out a defective set of test kits (not defective due to manufacturing as falsely claimed above, defective because they deemed the WHOs guidelines for tests as not good enough and invented a new testing scheme, which then falsely flag the presence of virus when there is none). This was Feb 6. At that time it was also communicated in the media that states have received test kits. The fact that they thought to do this indicates they know the need for it, they just botched the execution.
The fact that they could not be validated and the CDC has to do all testing for an entire month after, was kept quiet. Other countries report daily how many tested and how many positive. The entire month of Feb, we got essentially no information on this from our own government. I’m not pinning this on one person. The federal government collectively failed. They said she's gone too far this time

How is antibacterial soap or a disinfectant going to keep me from getting a virus?

Ok so they did act in early February but the kits they made were faulty. That's a manufacturing issue. WHoever is at fault for that happening, highly doubt its Donald Trump like the media is claiming.
If our medical experts deferred to Trump on how to make the test kits they should all be fired

Coronavirus has a lipid bilayer membrane that, like grease on a dish, "dissolves" when exposed to soap. That effectively destroys the virus.
Re: BigBallsMcgee, I think if you exclude Trump's name and just call it "the government", he's going to be a little less emotional. To be quite fair, this is a multifactorial failure of the system.أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله

....uhhh...there's people who make 6 figures a year who's job it was to do all the **** you just said someone itt should have done. Lmfao are you srs right now?
You need to be a psychic to see China getting annihilated by this and think "damn...probably a good idea to get things in order to be able to test for this for not if - when it makes it's way here."
People with their ear to the ground on this have been saying since January it would make it's way here eventually. And they don't make 6 figures a year as infectious disease experts to figure it out.

Gtf off Trump's balls for 5 seconds. No one is saying Trump. Replace trump with government. There are many people in our GOVERNMENT who's job it is to see this **** on the horizon and prepare us for it - that never happened

To say I'm disgusted by our public health infrastructure is an understatement. John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan couldn't get this mess fixed if they worked together.
Trump's biggest mistake is simply failing to level with the public and provide strong, trustworthy leadership.Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Houston hospitals are 95% full on a regular day. They've honestly done no preparations.

So question to all... does anyone know anyone who actually has the virus currently? Anyone know how they are feeling, what it's like?

I don't see why they would not report true numbers. It is a bit peculiar that while their death rate is low, and the number of new cases are going down, they have a really low recovery number.
This might be due to being overly diligent in their testing ( this is a good thing).

SK was around the official numbers we are right now when they got serious about lockdowns, closing public places, etc. And they're only now getting infections under control.
...we're not doing anything remotely on that level. So I don't have hopes that we'll make out as well as they are right now.

I listened to a podcast where they interviewed a 50something year old man who was on the Grand Princess Cruise ship. He came down with the virus on the way home. He said he had a fever of 103 for about 10 hours which he slept through, and since then the fever broke and its been the same symptoms as a minor cold. YMMV.

The interesting thing about this virus is that compared to H1N1, there's a lot of cardiomyopathy that appears to be induced by SARS-CoV-2. According to an ICU doc in Seattle, he's seeing that these patients aren't refractory to oxygen therapy per se compared to H1N1 patients, but that their hearts fail and they go into cardiac arrest. So there's a question of whether there is a myocarditis component to the severe forms of the disease.
