I’ll be interested to see how it’s handled here. If there are school closings will it be district wide? County wide? State wide? I’m assuming Cali and NY will lead the way and give us an idea of what the blueprint will/should be. I imagine the next month or two will be the worst, and then things will level out. By summer the biggest impact will probably be drastically reduced tourism....or at least that’s my optimistic take.

i don't think it's fair to downplay it like that...it may be 2% in young and healthy individuals, but for elderly and children it's probably much higher

There are no known fatalities in the 0-9 age group. The 10-19 age group is 0.2%.

It got me really thinking how many people that we come to contact w/ daily (direct/nondirect) have a cold/flu/etc that we don't know. Food preppers and servers are the biggest that come to mind. Can't really do much about it when the food you're going to eat has been sneezed on, but probably the best way to fight it in other ways is to wash your hands a lot.

If you are aged ~20-30, it's more like 0.2%

If you have no preexisting health condition, that drops even further. It's 0.9% for all ages of people without heart disease/diabetes/chronic asthma etc.

I don't know how you splice the two numbers togther (probably need to regress the original data) but it's probably less that 0.1% for the average person on this forum.
