and
2. How much did the dumbbell set cost?
Great home gym man. I'm envious.

Hi everyone, I work out at home and this is what my gym has in it, Northern lights power rack and adjustible bench, 5-100# dumbbells sitting on Parabody racks 3 of them, a Parabody EX350 weight machine, a Schwinn 230i recumbent bike(doesn't get much use), all sitting on a 1/4 inch of rubber that takes a 100# DB drop no problem, I couldn't post a pic for some reason, but heres a link to a pic of it. http://www.mesomorphosis.com/forums/..._ID=59069&mc=6
Nothing beats working out at home, this past sunday morning I was sqwating in nothing but my boxers.

My ideal home gym will probably be between 200-300 square feet, mirrors on the walls, rubber flooring, 1 or two wall mounted fans (no air conditioning, ok... well maybe just in case.), dumbbell rack (20 lbs - 110 lbs), an adjustable olympic bench, leg press machine, leg curl machine, squat rack, 400 lbs. of plates and a few weight trees, pull up bar, dip apparatus, a preacher curl, pec deck, 7' chrome olympic barbell, ez-curl bar, and a sound system so I can play Metallica as loudly as I want.

A.C. is the next best thing to fried chicken, a madman like you needs a.c. (i visited your website)
When my cousin Justin gets home(you've seen his pics on the forum justin_in_il) he's going to add to the setup, we need some heavier dumbells, my heavist is 60, I have a truckload of 1" wieghts so i can make heavier when I need to. we already have several olympic sets, would love to have a t-bar and leg press.
We pretty much have all the basics. My wife and I both work out and there is no gym where we live so I felt like It was needed.
Money well spent. Sorry I don't listen to metallica, mostly contemperary christian

No one – and I repeat, no one – has ever died for a flag. See, a flag ... is just a piece of cloth. They may have died for freedom, which is also the freedom to burn the ****in' flag, see. That's freedom."

The holy grail of gyms....
WVU Student Recreation Center... 17,000 sq. ft.... free to students... this pic is the upper weight room (majority is cardio) the downstairs has about 4 squat racks, 4 smith machines, about 3 pairs of dumbbells for each weight from 5-100, 5 flat benches, 1 incline, 1 decline, 3 hammer strength bench press machines, 3 hammer strength incline bench machines, 1 Hammer strength decline, 3 hammer strength shoulder press, 3 ez curl bars, 3 leg presses, a cable crossover, and more random machines (curl machine, tricep ext., chest press etc.).. As far as plates go... about 100+ of each plate from 2.5lbs to 45lbs...
It's gonna suck going home and getting a gym membership at a gym thats only like 100sq ft.ht: 5'9"

Actually Animal House is 40.00 if you go month to month, but I went 1 yr for 350.00 so it comes out to under 30.00 per month.( I know the Brick is under that)
I have heard good things about the Brick , but I hear Animal House is bigger ( IE 4 squat racks , 6 Benches) Not inculding stuff like the Hammer Strength Bench and Smith, incline and declines
Heck Animal House doubled in size in the past 2 years and I can walk to it from my house....
Well I can walk to Ballys too, but we wont get into that
Log thing sounds cool, but I dont know what I would do with it
Hey the Olympic Speedskating Team and Art Atwood train at Animal House (But I hear every gym in the city gave Art a free membership)Shut Up & Train

Ja, Animal House is much bigger and does have more newer equipment. Animal House looks like something you see in Muscle and Fitness magazine and Brickyard looks like something from Russia or Deutschland(Germany). I like Brickyard because of the hardcore weightroom-I do not need a Ballys or something clean cut place. Man, you pay 350? God, ich would not pay that. For a membership here, $225 for a year. I have visited Animal House but I do not like wear the deadlift area is--you have to walk past the treadmills. Animal House also said that you have to be clean with chalk there, Brickyard here says you don't and you dont have to put up weights. Ich took me awhile to find the building because of the location.

Yeah, the DL area you mention is actually an area they put in for powerlifters (they would spend all day on the squat racks doing deads and squats etc. so the owner put that area in for them to train at becuase people would get pissed that they were there for hours and couldnt use the racks ( the powerlifters are also the reason for the chalk rule) That suff was everywhere (another reason for the powerlifting area)
The owner don't get pizzed about weights not being put away , members do, I do 900 leg presses, not really fair to some woman who wants to train after me and has to unload a ton of weight I put on...
I bought and still have a Ballys membership (23.00 month) for 5 years with a 100.00 extra buyout to make it lifetime after the 5th year. I bought that dam membership trained for probably less than a year and then bought the buyout option paying month after month for a gym I didnt use...&%#@(! place took away half the **** they had when I signed up , then I found out I couldnt sell the membership, so I have a worthless membership there
350.00 didnt seem to bad to me, I mean its like 29.00 per month, cripes I know guys who drop that(350.00) on supplements every month, although I wouldnt mind paying less for sure
Maybe I'll drop by the Brick and you and I can sling some iron
Oh P.S. Those Bally pricks have been sending me letters saying they are going to have to either up the buyout amount or have an ongoing monthly fee....unreal sell me a contract that says all of these things are available, take away a bunch of them wont let me sell the memberhsip and now want more $$Last edited by brayndrayn; 04-28-2004 at 08:02 PM.

to the guys talking about the brickyard and animal house.... So what if they aren't strict about putting weights away? you always should, its proper gym etiquette. It takes very little time and it saves the next person time, besides, you were the one doing the weight, why should they clean up your mess?

Here's one of my unis two gyms. This is the larger "recreational" gym. The other is mainly just squat racks and deadlift platforms w/ a few other pieces. Nothing special but for 150 a year you can't beat the price and the scenery is pretty motivating
