    I see so many people struggle to bench 2 plates in gyms

    Even guys that are bigger than me, saw some guy barely getting sets of 3 and dude was like 25-30lbs more than me.

    Perhaps 2 plate bench is decent (in general). Also saw some black brah was struggling 230lbs 5x5 and dudes arms are at least 2 inches bigger than me, dude is pretty damn jacked.

    Lul @ OP studying lifts of other people at the gym. Focus on you lifts!
    Old mate might have already done some exercises before hand and chest was already fatigued.
    Add more weight!

    Size and strength are not directly correlated. You can train strictly for strength and get those bench numbers up but you wont gain too much size. Or you can gain size without so much strength using light weights and higher volume.

    Most people go for a middle ground, but not everyone cares about strength. I have a friend who's been lifting for ten years, I'm stronger than him on day one. He doesnt care about strength doesnt lift for strength. If you looked at him you would think he was much stronger than me.

    My DL and squat were always impressive but my bench is pitiful. My forearms would take most of the weight and whilst they looked jacked my chest was left behind.

    just blows my mind how someone can look that big and not lift 2 plates with ease. I care about both size and strength though, just try to progressively overload tbh

    Literally no one cares how much you can bench press irl.
    Only reason you should lift is for yourself, to feel better, be stronger fittter etc. If you think bench press to impress guys, you might impress a few but most likely no one gives a fk

    ive just started benching 2 times a week and I think it is helping, perhaps try 2-3x a week boyo.

    I still feel being strong has a lot of carryover and benefits in the real world that it is worth being strong. I also value endurance and mobility too

    I always look around too. I observe everything. Oh there is that guy with the imaginary lat syndrome. How come they are always fat? Is it armpit fat that makes them do that sht???     A 2 plate bench is a serious bench for the fit lifter. I am not impressed by fat manlets who can bench 225 with their partial very short ROMs.

    And size does not equal strength.

    You get good at a lift by practicing for it. It is that simple.

    While practice is important this is the bench we are taking about. Every one does some version of bench.
    No huge dudes in the gym are skipping the horizontal press.

    And size of chest, shoulders and triceps is the biggest factor in bench strength. That's why there are weight classes.

    Leave the manlet hate behind and actually start lifting then talk ish.

    Can bench 3 plates without a spot for a rep or two now but it took my yearssss to be able to rep out 2 plates

    It was my 1rm for years, now I can finally bang out sets of like 20 with 2 plates

    Absolutely thats how I lift. The strength increases keep me coming back to the gym more than the way I look which is hard to measure. That being said I dont want to be the strong fat guy who looks bad outside the gym either. Kind of going for a middle ground.

    I am almost completely just calisthenics. I'll be doing a full planche before 2021. Probably well before. Someone benching 6 plates, will not be able to do a planche at all. Unless they train for it. People lifting less than OP is just in progression. And yes, some guys look like they lift, without lifting. It's pretty good.

    Show me one high level (5+ plates) raw bencher that doesn't have very well developed chest/shoulders/triceps. You can get big without getting that strong, but it doesn't work the other way around.

    Depending on your weight, two plates is around the point where some level of technique becomes helpful, which most people don't have.

    Ever since I solved my shoulder problems my bench has been flying up. Could probably hit 280x1 right now. Was hard stuck at 245 for months.

    I keep failing on 210 lbs for 1 rep. Still stuck on 200 lbs for max since the last 3 months even though i started lean bulking now.
