Is soccer REALLY considered a "girly sport" in the USA (and Canada)?

Soccer is one of the most physically demanding sports out there, even if you're good at cardio it's a whole different level. And there's a reason why tackling is not allowed in most pick up games, because you can easily break someones bone with a single slide.

The theatrics are a huge turnoff. I go to MLS games a few times a year and seems like its not quite as bad as European play but its still there.

Well I'm biased since I grew up playing soccer and played throughout middle school and high school. Still play on occasion. I've lived in Europe, and been to live futbol matches, and the atmosphere was amazing.

Objectively, I can see why an avid fan would think it's "girly" one thing I'd take away from the game is the constant diving and whining. Example: Neymar he has the potential to be the world's best player, but all he does is dive whine and cry and complain when he doesn't get anything his way...dude is about 26 and acts like a 16 year old. It's time to grow up he was a disgrace at last years world cup.

The game can get boring too at times even I as a huge soccer fan can get bored. The UEFA champions league couple weeks ago between Liverpool vs Tottenham was a snoozefest, but in contrast the semifinal knockout stage was incredible with Liverpool and Tottenham staging comebacks vs very good Barcelona and Ajax teams.


Women's world cup just will never lift off anytime soon the quality is poor that's just the truth you can always bank on 3 teams winning it all USA Japan or Germany.

I will say though the MLS is getting some exposure though the Mens national team is still poor. They made a big mistake firing Jurgen Klinsmann I think he would have taken us pretty far by now he was good at recognizing talent he identified Christian Pulisic a future superstar now at Chelsea, but the USA federation were impatient with him, and hired Arena and look what happened lol can't even beat Trinidad and Tobago to qualify...

Soccer is where all the non athletic kids gravitate to in grade school. It isn't competitive and isn't really played or followed past that level except for foreigners who were never exposed to real sports.

hey i like soccer but if we are being real then its pretty girly. All of the players border the gay threshold EXTREMELY closely when it comes to style and how they carry themselves.

Compare it to rugby, american football, hockey, ect its definitely more girly. Even compared to baseball it is; women cant even play baseball its so difficult. You have female versions of hockey, basketball, tennis, soccer and even rugby sometimes but not baseball, they play softball which is entirely different.
