I'd rather choke on a dick than eat MH. Too much ****ing sodium. Even their new reformulated low sodium **** is terrible.

we have some of that here, just depends on the terrain. but that would be bowhunting mainly. its gotten a little out of hand, all 3 of those deer i never would have been able to kill 10 years ago. i wish there was some way to ban the long range stuff honestly, now everyone can shoot 700+ its hard on the animals, especially elk. the trophy elk units are shot out now

Unfortunately everything I've seen designed to last that long has an ass load of sodium. I will just never eat MH again after living off that **** on a hunt for 12 days.
Heather's choice is what i personally keep in my packs. 1 year shelf life. Those packaroons are addictive though

Yeah pretty much it all does. Even if you buy canned/packaged regular shelf stuff at the grocery store it's the same thing. Long shelf life and ready to eat or just add water...get ready for that sodium bloat.
I have a couple camping trips yet this summer, good excuse to try something with a shorter shelf life brb amazoning

Cool video of Jupiter I took with my phone through my ATX65. Doesn't do it justice. You can see the rings with your eye.

When I spent 25 days on Logan it was MH for breakfast and dinner every single day (minus an MRE for the night before summit day since we couldn't boil water that high). I never experienced a bloat, but then again I also finished that climb 15 pounds lighter since we were never consuming enough calories. Not sure how you'd do if you sat on your fat ass the whole time eating them, but as Farley mentioned, it doesn't matter what you go with, you're going to have a sodium overload. That's not MH exclusive.
Idgaf about planning for some civil war bullchit that will never happen, but earthquakes are a major risk here and combined with the drought that we've been in since 800 B.C. it's something that is a legitimate concern in the event of a serious earthquake. I have a four gallon jug that I take when I lead Vet Ex trips for the guys to fill up before we head out that I've left filled which I suppose is sufficient for the pupper and me. I always have enough MH meals for climbing that I could get by on that.Misc Firearms Crew

Well, Speer's customer service is top-notch.
Bought a box of 50 Gold Dots in 9mm. They would not feed through my gun that eats everything from WWB to HSTs like candy. Emailed Speer. They actually offered to have the box of ammo picked up so they could check it out, as well as to mail me a check for the full purchase price.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

I always have 10-20 gallons of spring water on hand for brewing, but I've been planning on buying some of the 5 gallon jugs meant for water coolers to have sitting there. There's water sources everywhere, so having a high quality filter is a better choice than storing a ton of water in containers. I want one of the Alexapure Pro filter systems.
As for the food storage, I mainly rely on my home canned produce from the garden, and deer meat we get from hunting. All the Long term food storage is meant for variety, or to get us through a bad winter or rough summer where the garden doesn't produce well. The hardest part of a zombie apocalypse will be pretending I'm not excited.

I buy the Scepter military water cans. Not cheap but badass.
http://lexingtoncontainercompanysonl...ary-water-can/
I rinse them out with bleach water, then rinse them out again, and fill with spring or purified water. That way it’s sterile and I don’t have to worry about filtering if I need it. Water lasts forever if stored properly.

A little over a decade ago I got a half dozen of their gas cans, and one water can. The water can has ridden around in my car full time ever since.
I sold all the gas cans a couple years ago before moving. They leaked fumes you could smell while shut and leaked liquid gasoline when tipped over. Possibly replacing the gaskets would have fixed that, but they also, their entire life, leaked/dripped some fuel when dumping them into the car for rotation. This was using the Scepter brand hose attachment. They also, through temperature changes, because EXTREMELY difficult to take the cap off (gas) after sitting for awhile. They make a plastic 'wrench' you can buy to help open but it was like $60 lolwut.
I'm still happy with the water can though. I tipped it over recently to test and it still doens't leak. It's been probably from -10* through 130* in the car.

Maybe practice better hygiene?
I don't remember who had it or where we were, probably semi camping somewhere, but someone had one of the biscuits and gravy meals and seemed to really enjoy it. I figured he was probably just trying to convince himself so he could power through it, but maybe there's some truth to that.
Makes sense. I don't know that I've seen them de-boned. But I'd put my bone in your butt.

Ok, but how long does a can of Mountain House stuff last once you've opened it, like if you're only preparing a portion of it?
