05-13-2019, 02:06 PM #1383The thing that interested me with last night's episode was the theme of being unable to let go and the cost.
Cersei could not let go of power. It cost her her life
Euron could not let go of the battle. Cost him his life
Jaime could not let go of Cersei and his love for her. Cost him his life
Dany could not let go of her obsession. It may cost her her life
The Hound could not let go of his need for revenge. It cost him his life

Its Game of thrones not Game of Dragons.
Its Game of Thrones not Game of Walkers.
You sound like a shill. If you really like the thrones and political part of it that much why dont you sit down and just watch BBC Parliament.
GOT was a good mix of everything. The Writers dont see that.Sipping tea B.C.

Not sure what you're pointing out - seems an easy way to forgo 7 season of character development for some of those characters. The Hound and Cersei were always heading that way. Euron I couldn't give two chits about. What obsession for Dany, they had surrendered and she could have killed Cersei. She never once had an obsession to burn KL to the ground or she wouldn't have gone through diplomatic channels SO many times. Jaime's arc was just ended horrendously.
It's funny you say this when I've probably been reading the books and watching the show long before you.1977

yeah im with you there, at least we got cleganebowl lel.
people have been pointing out the fact Dany has mad king impulses before 2013 even. She's young and entitled, people aren't complaining about that fact she went rogue on her original goals but rather how it was handled, she literally went from a compromising queen to a warlord in a fortnight.

I don't think people have a problem with Dany going mad queen so much as how shoddily written and rushed recent events were.
No, we're not saying that was no build up, we're saying that her finally snapping happened is such a rushed and poorly written way it degrades the event. Just like the whole "endless" night happening is one friggin night massively degrades the event.

Dany's obsession for the throne.. wtf do you think she's been all about.
Jamie was ALWAYS about not letting of his love for Cersei.. Jesus he even spelled it out for you when he left Brienne.. He couldn't shake her like miscers cant shake ex gf's and cant stay NC.. If anything Jamie is the very definition of a stupid miscer who is controlled by love.
Well go ahead then. Prove why they messed up the arcs

Really enjoyed this episode. If you can look past the fact that Drogon had the GOT equivalent of a mario kart golden star for invincibility, which was necessary to get through everything in such a short season, it was great.
I've seen a lot of criticism of stuff like the Golden Company being useless (but this shows that money only gets you so far, you can't always buy success), Dany going full Mad Queen (but this was going to be her destiny from day one) and how Jaime and Cersei die by falling rocks instead of a gruesome revenge kill by Arya or by trial (but this would be too fantasy land) but I think the endings were fitting for those that got them. The Hound is my favourite character but it would have been wrong for him to win Cleganebowl. To get peace he had to kill his brother, even if it meant killing himself.
The season hasn't been perfect by any stretch, and it's possible the finale will tank, but I think it's much better, and more fitting than a lot of people give it credit for. All things considered.*Banged YeahImMad once* Crew

She was always held in check by her council and advisors... tell me what happened to almost all of them? then the ones she has left, in her eyes can she trust them?
It was all good and cool when they were able to steer her away towards being "the bad guy" but once their gone, Episode 5 is a kind of what you get.

Tell me how they didnt?
John Snow was destroyed in episode 3. His whole character, especially after coming back to life, was meant to be this great warrior/leader. Gets 0 shine and walks around like a puppy in the last 2 episodes.
Bran. Totally useless storyline. A whole show of build up and he ends up being a btec stephen hawkings on a chair.
Jamie Lanister. Why THE PHUCK did he make his way all the way to winterfell to only comeback and die with his sister. He decided he wanted to war with the other side but then suddenly decides to go back. Pointless journey.
Varys was meant to be the master of whisprers or whatever. Goes out because he told the HAND of the queen that he didnt trust her LOL smart move
Danny being the mad queen. That could of been dealt with much much better. Rushed as chit.
Its a poor season. Cant see why people dont see it. Everything was well thought out in the first few seasons.

She has never up until last night killed innocent people willingly. The only ones taht got caught up in her chit were slavers, which are seen as evil in pretty much any work of fiction, or people actively trying to kill her. That's not madness, that is normal Queen chit.
Before this moment, the crucified kids pissed her off
She made it her business to eradicate slavery
She tried to govern Mereen and listen to the citizens
If I'm to believe she can disregard innocent lives (key word is innocent, focus on this) after her whole life, the YEARS leading up to this were all about freedom and saving people, even SACRIFICING HER SAFETY AND A DRAGON TO LITERALLY SAVE THE WORLD, I'm gonna need way more to go on that Cersei pissed her off and she was betrayed.***The Misadventires of Gandalf the Black***

Each one of them continued their same character flaws that they've showed for a large majority of the show. They were able to change here and there, but guess what.. Just like real life, our flaws and true self will always come to life. Even Arya went back to being real Arya, and in the end saved herself by doing so.
He loved his sister, already stated numerous times he did crazy and ruthless things in the name of family and love. WTF is more naturally flawed yet human is that. They had a decent ending, dying the arms of the person they did everything for. Family.
Dany was always going to go that route, especially after everyone she cared about died and she was no longer receiving the adulation and realized that her life's dream was actually not rightfully hers.

Daenerys didn't "go mad", she was just a narcissist who only helped the underclass because they gave her lots of positive attention for it, not because she actually cares about doing good things. In the West, everybody thinks she's presumptuous and annoying, and she can't handle the criticism so she just set everybody on fire.
Change my mind.Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

She started going mad queen just as they had surrendered ergo she was getting the throne already.
Destroying the entire city and killing all the civilians even after they've all surrendered is accomplishing what more exactly? Enlighten me. The soldiers had put down their arms, Cersei had no men left. SHe wants to go straight to the tower and burn Cersei - that's a completely different point.
