I'm gonna watch it because I still enjoy it on some level. But that doesn't negate how bad the writing has become and how badly the writers have destroyed the legacy of a show that could have stood with some of the greats like Breaking Bad, etc. Plus it's one more episode. My posts about this show or why I'm still watching it are consistent unlike the writing you seem to love so much.

In literature and film if you are never shown something and it is never mentioned, then it suddenly happens, this is called a "deus ex machina". I'll let you look this term up on your own and figure out why it's considered a very sloppy narrative device.

In episode 4 after the funeral they literally said they had half of the forces left

The story and character arcs were complete nonsense, so much potential tossed out the window.

However, the cinematography/sfx and music composition was 9.5/10.

Episode definitely had a lot of flaws but overall it was better than I expected it to be. Maybe that's because my expectations had been lowered so much after the previous 2 episodes, though..

This, it makes sense for Danny to purge everyone. Non of the Starks or Snow can be trusted, anybody who knows Jon is king by right can't be trusted, Very's has probably sent out messages all over awaring whatever powerful people remain. Tryion is an idiot but I guess Danny will keep him around because there will be no one else left to advise her.

IMO ends in a battle of starks vs Danny, and Danny has the dragon so

I hate this excuse. Just because it's a show with dragons, doesn't mean the cast should be invincible. They certainly weren't in seasons 1-5.

And how does that shield the show from criticism? The show runners wanting to leave doesn't excuse the awful writing. Budget reasons aren't even a reason either as long as the writing is solid. The show had to wait until the battle of Blackwater Bay to see a big battle. But that was fine because it doesn't have to be about what they can spend. An intriguing story can be intriguing without spending a lot of money. Actors leave and are recast all the time as well. What does any of this have to do with bad writing?

Main issue is with Varys. Dany is murdering him and Jon just standing there picking his butt after the talk he had with this guy? Varys betrayed Dany for the people, in favor of Jon. He could at least try to object.

Also fuk tyrion for being a fukin snitch.

Storywise, Dany needed a little additional push to go apechit. Didn’t buy the transition there.

Dude stood right there when she roasted him like the mad king roasted his uncle and grandfather.
