AOC saw a sea of black people and assumed they were ignorant so started talking ignorant.

This is exactly what she did. She spoke in a way that was unnatural to her (MakeABanana, spare us with this "she from tha Bronx, doe" bollocks. Talking like a character from Idiocracy. Like somebody who's never been to school. Like somebody who thinks it's appropriate to use sentences, regardless of accent, that are not even actual sentences when delivering public speeches because she thinks black people in general are like that.

I come from an area where most people have a strong South London working class accent. It's one of the most ethically-diverse places around. If somebody who grew up in an area where everybody speaks in a neutral accent (i.e. wealthy area like Cortez is from) and gave a speech to us sounding like a bad impersonation of somebody local because they thought we'd relate to her more she'd be laughed out the room.

Yes, people with certain accents and ways of speaking might well amend it in situations like going to work, giving public speeches, speaking to service providers, speaking to people from different places who might not understand your lingo etc. This is not what AOC is doing. These people talking about "code switching" are doing it the wrong way round. They're suggesting AOC's natural way of speaking is like in that video and she is going posh when she's in congress or whatever. It's the other way round. How she speaks in congress is how she naturally speaks because she grew up in a place where everyone speaks like that. The way she was speaking in the video is her purposely speaking like a poor stereotype because she thinks that's what black people are like. That's why she's a mug lol.
