https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...lows-sometimesPresident Trump late Wednesday repeated his opposition to wind power, pushing a misleading claim that it would not work as an energy source because the wind “only blows sometimes.”
The comment echoes Trump’s repeated past criticisms of wind power. Just one week earlier, he mocked the concept of wind power by mimicking a man telling his spouse: “Turn off the television darling, please. There's no wind, please turn off the television quickly.”
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...aq/3307863002/"If it doesn't blow, you can forget about television for that night," Trump said in Michigan, adding, "I know a lot about wind."
Holy chit is is daf.

I'm confused. How exactly is he dumb and/or wrong here?
That's one of the big downsides to wind and solar. They're variable and you still need something like coal, nuclear, or geothermal to bridge the gap during lulls in power production.
The dumbest part is that they quote the DoE but fail to realize that the quote there is about how the power grid is designed to cover it; yeah, with conventional power methods.

wind energy farms aren't cost effective, nor are they "green". The amount of maintenance on them is ridiculous, the initial construction cost is massive (the turbines and blades themselves plus they are always in rural areas so the amount of work to run the electrical cables is massive), and they are far from green. The steel is still made with coal, the elements making up the giant magnets in the turbines are still mined across the world producing tons of pollution.
