Not that is really matters, but you are closer to 18% bf. For reference, I hover between 11-12% and unless you are trying to step on stage, 8% just isn't worth it. I would try to continue to stack on muscle, then do a cut, bulk, then cut again etc. Use the mirror and your progress in the gym as your gauge and not bf %

My avitar is 13%...so not sure where your calculations are coming from...but a simple visual is more accurate.

thanks i had a feeling i was underestimating, but i mainly want to get to 8% for athletic performance, and since i am pretty new to this fitness thing about a 10 months in i can still lose fat and build muscle but when i do get to a point i plateau ill take into account your suggestion of cutting and bulking

i was using multiple tape measure tests and averaging my results, but i did hear they can be like 3 to 7% off, so i think me getting 13 - 15 makes sense at me being actually around 18 - 19%.

8% for athletic performance? Unless you are running marathons I don't know how it would help you athletically

it would help with sprinting, and sports im getting into like basketball and american football (particularly the wide reciever position), also ive never been there before so i want to see whether if its ideal for me and the sports i do or if somewhere like 10% is the gold spot, all part of the journey i suppose.

Again, I humbly disagree. Guys who get down to that level generally are only there a short time because of a competition. Bodies aren’t designed to be a peak performance at that low bf

IF your measurements are correct (and this can be easy to be off on); military tape testing would put you at 17% bf

if we were talking about the 5% and below being competition ranges id understand, but some of the best athletes in the world perform at peak performance in the 8 - 10% range

    Cristiano ronaldo
    Russell Westbrook
    Usain Bolt
    Yoahan Blake
    Floyd maywether
    Giannis antetokounmpo

    and many others.

yeah i just plugged them in again on one of my go to calculators and it came out as 16.8% so basically 17%, looks like the ones i used a while ago that gave me 13 -15% where trash, 18 - 20% is where im working from now, i plan to get to 8% in 3 - 4 months, thanks for looking into it, wouldn't have rechecked it without that post.
