How do I avoid tearing my calf again?

I'm just doing calf raises on stairs, last time I tore my calf and my calf was out for almost a month. What stretches/excersizes should I do to avoid this?
Chest wounds suck (when properly inflicted).

I didn't stretch them at all when this happened though. I assume you're talking about pre exercise stretching and not ROM durign the actual exercise?

You shouldnt be tearing your calf muscles doing simple BW raises. You most likely pulled the muscle because you didnt warm up properly and used excessive ROM.

Your achilles tendon tends to blow before tear a muscle.

    That's it, I think.

What do I do to warm up in the future to prevent pulling my calves

Here's some info on fascial release and stretching for the calves. If fascial adhesions have built up in your calf muscles, they lose elasticity and therefore start tugging on your achilles tendon. That can cause achilles tendonitis, calf tears, achilles tendon tear, etc. You need to work those adhesions out.
