Not that I agree with them but I can see where the people protesting are coming from. I'd imagine none of them had a chance at acquiring those 25,000 jobs. They basically see it as 25,000 well payed people pushing them out of their neighborhoods.

So the people in that area are waiting on a company to come in and offer low skilled jobs at a very specific pay rate that’s above the market rate but not too much because it would drive up cost of living?

The post I was responding to brought up the idea that the people that already live in the area are not qualified to do the work Amazon was bringing in. So Amazon would bring people into the area, pushing them out.

Before it was explained that the jobs would be higher level, people were complaining that the low level jobs at Amazon don’t pay enough. But if the people aren’t qualified for higher level jobs, clearly they are only qualified for lower level jobs. So they need lower level jobs, that pay MORE than lower level jobs do. BUT, they can’t pay TOO much...because that would drive up the cost of living in the area.

Now that I’m older I realize you definitely can play things “too hard and too fast.” But its extra funny to look back on things that I was totally and completely wrong about (swore I was right) and the more senior people around me just let me think I was right and simply fixed my fukups quietly.
