So you're going to ignore the first part dumbass? Ever heard the term playing with fire? This is about as close as it gets to doing it literally.
There's a giant fuking waterfall of gasoline and mist gushing out at god knows what PSI. It's so stupid Zoolander, a satirical movie, even has playing with gasoline as one of their famous scenes.
There is no way possible to siphon that gas into whatever bucket, pail or jerry can they have in a manner that would not have absolutely drenched them.

Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

You missed what he was saying and responding to.
I can't and won't watch the video. My thoughts. Stealing is bad. Going up to a busted gas pipeline is not a smart thing to do. Does it mean someone should die in the most painful way possible? Absolutely not. While we can all sit here and think these people are horrible and stupid, it doesn't mean we can't have some empathy for them dying in a horrible painful fashion.~ In a world where you can be anything, be kind ~

I think that's probably an argument that can go on forever. Tomato/tomahto kind of thing. The people who cut the gas line were obviously thieves, the ones who came about later I would say they're just taking advantage of a situation. Most likely most of those people had never done anything worse than steal some gasoline. I'm just surprised that people think their horrible death was fitting.

If someone jumps into a bear enclosure at a zoo and they get eaten alive, they deserve it. That doesn't mean I think the penalty for trespassing should be death. But your own stupidity lead directly to your death and I'm not going to feel sorry for you.
If you go swimming in a fountain of aresolized gasoline trying to steal it and get get burned alive, you deserve it.
Best case scenario? You get permanent lung and brain damage from inhalation in exchange for a couple bucks worth of fuel. Worst case scenario is exactly what happened

I saw this kind of stuff in Iraq. We loaded a 5-ton up full of trash and drove it out to an empty field behind a small village, poured fuel all over it and lit it on fire to burn it. The Iraqi villagers came out, even when the stuff was burning, they'd drag whatever they could out to keep it.

In America, we are lucky. When we start to run out of resources, we just send in our powerful AF military and take it. America could've responded to that busted gas pipe, capped it and diverted it to California. What's Mexico going to do about it? Nothing.
We drill for oil in this country, spill hundred of thousands of gallons annually and think nothing of it. We loosen up federal safety standards on rail cars to the point where trains are derailing and we lose millions of gallons of oil, chemicals, gas, etc all the time. And we go on like nothing happened. Why? Because we, as Americans, have so much, and are not poor. Even the poorest of the poor in this country can afford gas."Strength does not come from winning. It sounds like organized gangs are tapping into the lines, but locals support them in many cases. Articles are saying that pipelines throughout Mexico are being tapped an average of over 40x per day right now
And it sounds like the pipeline tapping is causing shortages across the country, which then draws the locals to the taps. It’s really the gangs that are culpable

Too empathetic? Nah. I was a ranger, I've fired lots of rounds at other human beings.
I'm also a paramedic, I see people at their worst and do my best to save their life.
I'm capable of turning the switch on/off as needed, I just understand enough about reality (since I live in it) to know that stealing gasoline, or more accurately, taking advantage of someone else cutting a gasoline pipe, doesn't mean you deserve to be burned to death. This should something with anyone over an IQ of let's say....60 should understand. So even the people who fall on the spectrum, who lost the genetic lottery for intelligence, etc should be able to understand.
But then I come on the misc and see kids who were born into middle class families and take too many anti-depressants come in here and say some of the dumbest things humanly possible in this thread. It's no surprise, it's happened before. Years ago I had people threaten to kill me in a big game hunting thread where I spoke from a perspective of experience in the matter (worked in Africa with poaching problems) because they weren't smart enough (or were too medicated) to understand the difference between hunting and poaching. Here we are again, people too dumb (or over medicated) to understand that burning to death is not an acceptable punishment for filling up a gas can even if it's a stupid decision to soak yourself in gasoline to score some free fuel.
What this thread really shows is that the chemical imbalances of so many people who post here is something we all need to remember. This is the same forum that egged CJ on to kill himself on a live feed for the world to see so maybe I should just expect that a bodybuilding forum attracts sociopaths specifically though.
