    The best bit o beef

    Good say all. I am adding beef to my diet. I sure ain't Gordon Ramsay and have to ask what's the best bit o beef to buy. It all looks great in the market, but whT the most nutritious piece.

    Ok. So I think you got the wrong end of the stick. Firstly, I have no idea what part of the cow is a New York strip. Secondly, if I was looking for the tastiest bit of meat, I would not be here. I am indeed looking for the most nutritious part of meat. Highest in protien basically.

    Than it would be the absolute leanest cut for the protein, but the 'healthiest' is too relative to your whole diet; you might be lacking in fat and a fattier cut would then be 'healthier'.

    In isolation we cannot say which one cut is best, for there isn't one; each can be better or worse depending upon needs, but most of it wont vary that much outside of fat content.

    For my money, fillet is the best (I think it's called tenderloin in the US). Easy as hell to get right (olive oil, salt, pepper), tasty af, lean. Always tender, which is not always the case with rump, sirloin and other cuts. Can be pricey though.

    Last time I had beef, I went with the leanest ground beef the supermarket had. Around 80-90% or so. On it's own it didn't have the greatest flavor, sorta bland - but when I added things like vegetables or put it in spaghetti it really came alive. It's an underestimated protein source for sure. There is plenty of it at 26g protein every 100g serving of 85% lean! I normally don't eat beef but they were having a killer sale, and I wanted to try it out. Glad I did, that amount is almost better than a protein shake.
