2 unsolicited compliments in a Walgreens at 6 AM this morning.

No bad

Definitely more refined (smoother, not as loud) as the EDT.

I told you Sauvage EDP is the bees knees.

Man this one is good, just look at the notes breakdown. This can so easily be an everyday, every season signature scent if - and that's a big IF - the performance was better. I put on 6 sprays from the 5ml decant 2 hours ago and it's basically gone. Maybe I need to seek out an older sample or something, but the performance is very much below average. Maybe the next time I wear it I'll spray some on my clothes. The scent is super interesting though, very friendly and inviting, almost intriguing.

It's neither too floral or too vanilla, the orange blossom in there keeps the feminine leaning aspects at bay. Really wonderful scent though.

@ninja, Prive lasts on me all day with 3 sprays. If you aren't smelling it, you've gone anosmic to the scent, simple as that. It happens to me too. One day I did 3 sprays and went to work and received a compliment 8 hours later from someone 5 feet away. By that time I thought it was a skin scent at best. It wasn't.

Edit: might I add, it was the best fragrance compliment I ever received in my life, by far.

Chances are it's just a scent profile that people get anosmic to. The formula itself hasn't been reformulated since I got my bottle. It's the same thing. Most important thing is people will smell you, I can guarantee that because I was shocked at how far away she smelled me and I couldn't smell a thing on myself.

REALLY digging this BR540 & Santal 33 layering. Sprayed 540 on each collarbone and then Santal 33 on my sternum and 1 to the throat. Then just for fun I sprayed 540 on the top of my hand, gave it 10 mins to dry and such and then sprayed Santal 33 over it. Not that I recommended layering this way - the other way is better - but, they even mixed well and not the top of my hand smells amazing. However, the whiffs I get from my chest/neck and shoulders are incredible! Sometimes I smell each one separately and sometimes I smell them at the same time.

Now let's say a perfumer was able to combine two incomplete fragrances and get something that smells the same way all the time, I'd be more comfortable with that. Like I think gentle fluidity gold while smelling great, feels somewhat incomplete and it could be blended with another scent to give you that full profile. Another example is many people use Molecule 01 to layer with many other fragrances to boost performance. Molecule 01 supposedly has a very light cedar like smell so by itself, while usable, it's pretty incomplete.


Herod for example has so much nuance to its smell and is blended so well, i would not be happy layering something on it to add a whole bunch of competing notes.

More often than not, I smell a mix of them at the same time.

But, yes, some fragrances shouldn't be layered, Herod as you mentioned, being a good example. BR540 and Santal play really well together.

Assuming you aren't spraying two or more different frags with identical notes, basically you are just adding notes to another fragrance. Look at the notes listed on some of those frags on Fragrantica. Some have 16 different notes, some only have two. Spray two five note frags, you're still only at ten notes, assuming there are zero similar notes in both frags.

Nobody will ever say, "Hey, you layering x and y?" Because you are actually creating something new and presenting it as one package.

That being said, if you feel its too "Designery" then maybe get Grand Soir as you may have some other designer frag that could fill that role. There is no rush to grab em all now, thats a ton of $$. I think MFK also offeres 11ml decants. You may want to consider getting those as well.

I have a 5ml Satin Mood Extrait that my SA gave me. Its quite strong and i don't really get that much of a difference from the regular Satin Mood. If you have Satin Mood already, I think its redundant to get the extrait. It smells great though.

I don't feel Amyris Extrait is too designery at all. My favorite fragrances are ones that have that mass appeal but still smooth, beautiful and have a unique twist. I'm a simple guy, I will always like stuff that just smells fukin good, lol.

It's not at all, and it depends on how badly you've killed your olfactory nerves. As your neurons are worn down, they have less reception capability (receptors deaden). Thus, it becomes easier to trigger the G-Protein to couple the ion-channel and close them, because it takes less neuron activity to overload the remaining neuron space.

Less enables you to get more (without shutting you down). It might not be an experience as intensely as you can remember, but your nerves don't even have those capabilities anymore if you've come to this stage.

This is certainly an interesting one. Im only 1 hour into my first wearing and I am really, really confused on this note breakdown.

"The fragrance features bergamot, cedar, cappuccino and balsam fir."

I really like AMen Ultimate, but I have no idea what I'm smelling other than sweetness.

Maybe I get a little bergamot? Maaaaaaybe a little cedar? The notes pyramid on fragrantica list coffee - which I get none of. Don't get me this wrong, it's moderately on the sweet side, not quite Ultra Male sweet though. Reminds me a lot of Invictus Aqua for some reason. Im having a hard time putting my thoughts into words with this one.

If someone told me this were a flanker, there's no way I would have guessed it was a Thierry Mugler release. It just doesn't have that same DNA as A*Men, or any of the Pure Malt/Havane/Coffee/Tonka/Wood releases. Not even close to Kryptomint or Ultra Zest. Ultimate is very different, I like it, but I'm not jumping for joy just yet only 1 hour into my first wearing.

Killed them? I barely even began this trip. I still smelled Sauvage on me when I went to bed last night. I don't wear CH Men Prive enough to be numb to it. I'll give it a try but I know it is no beast mode scent. I'll revisit it soon
