Anyone have an opinion on the John Varvatos stuff? I know it doesn't perform well but they are pretty affordable and seem like a few are solid for the fall weather.

Came back to a metric fukton of frags that decided to arrive the days i was away from home.

PDLN2 Travel Atomizer, Vintage splash bottles of Chanel Cuir de Russie and Guerlain Mitsouko, and one backup bottle of AmberCologne.

If I didn't know any better, i'd think the backup bottle was a fake. The bottle is a slightly different rectangular demension, and the gold plate is a different shape. I know the bottle to be the exact dimensions of the older Oud Monarch, and Oud Maximus series though so i'm not trippin.

Not Pictured: 12 serge Luten samples, Chypre Siam and other "Rogue Perfumery samples", and then Brogue Profumo's: Maai / MEM and OE

Cuir de Russie is challenging and i probably won't get a lot of use out of it. PDLN2 is as good as i remember. I verified the Amber Cologne is in fact not a bootleg by testing them side by side. The surprise of the bunch though is the Guerlain Mitsouko. Roja definitely swagger jacked a considerable amount of his creations from OG Guerlain releases.

Ha yea he is heavily "inspired" by Guerlain in quite a few of his creations. I hated mitsouko back when i tried it so, i wasnt surprised that im not a fan of the likes of Diaghilev or Haute Luxe.

Lalique White smells something like Creed Spice and Wood to me.

I was lucky enough to sample Spice and Wood when it first came out—and wow it was really amazing! My nose was pretty fresh still too, so I was able to get a lot out of it. There was this wood note in the opening that was so dry, super crisp and realistic. I absolutely loved it. Loved everything about the fragrance. Sadly, I don't really get that effect from it anymore. I think that special wood note is gone too. You're almost better off with Lalique at this point. Almost.

Bill, I don't limit myself to seasons. I wear whatever sounds good in the morning. Most of us spend 95% of our days in a 69 degree house, car, office, or gym. Not gonna spray for that 5% outdoor time.

Mitsouko is a classic. Although, most often the vintages don’t tend to age very well, especially with the citrus top notes. Check out a modern batch, you won’t be disappointed.

You might also want to try Guerlain L’heure Bleue, which is really beautiful, and for this one, you’ll need to track down the vintage.

I’m in love with Tom Ford Lavender Extreme. If any of you spot it at the TF outlet, please LMK.

I have a few JV fragrances, and yes you're right they don't perform super well. But they are very unique imo and I enjoy them. For fall I have JV Vintage, and Dark Revel. Both good for a night out in the cooler weather

Nice to get someone else's take on this one. In all honesty, i love the opening on the little splash bottle i have. The top notes, and the heart are amazing on it. Surprisingly it's only after the 1 hour or 90 minute dry down where it starts to get a little too smokey or "attic-ey". Going to explore this one a little more. The sucky part is going to be tracking down the one i want to be a repeat purchase. So many vintage/non-vintage versions, plus so many different concentrations. fukin brutal.

Edit: I always knew i liked PDLN2, but i wasn't always sure of the ideal situation to wear it. It's not a mass appealing freshie. It's not a sweet/sensual date night frag. It IS a super complex, spicy, and "alpha" type scent. . This is probably the most full blown "masculine" smelling release Roja offers. Whenever i have to throw on an entire suit & tie and kill a business meeting I'm going to be wearing PDLN2

Too many, lol. Try the modern one in store. Some counter's will have a cube tester that is filled with the pure parfum. Don't settle for the EDT or EDP.

If you need help with the vintage, I have a 7.5mL splash bottle, and a rare 2001 30mL spray tester that I could offer to you at a good price.

Roja Dove Elysium Parfum Cologne is the chit now boy. Has a similar vibe but modern and sexy. I'm buying my bottle soon.
