I agree the taste wouldn't be pleasant, but I would love for someone to expound on the reasoning that creatine and protein can't/shouldn't be mixed.

    Do tell.

Twin Peak - just a shot in the dark but I would assume that the milk containing as much lactose as it does may hinder the absorption of the creatine. What do you think?

How would it do that? Desensitizing the creatine receptors? Binding to the creatine molecule? Other ideas?

Since many have digestive disturbances over the digestion of lactose containing products - this may not leave a clear path for creatine to successfully be absorbed. Since most whey protein products have the majority of lactose removed - this should not most a problem for creatine being added to the mixture. IMO...but I would like to see an article on the conclusion of this discussion as would be quite educational.

Lactose prevents digestions for some, but creatine doesn't digest, its gets absorbed, so unless the lactose prevented absorbsion, or bound to the creatine, I don't see this as an issue.

Also, even IF you are correct, you are talking about a minority of the population. I am betting that if the original poster WANTS to use milk, he is not lactose intolerant.

The unfortunate thing is - many people do not know if they are lactose intolerant or not since many symptons may be different to different people. Many people do not know there own body like yourself or myself. They may over look many of these symptoms thinking that it is just away of life.

I should of touch up on this one as well. I consider the lactose to be like a brick wall and not being able to get through - But if the brick wall breaks down then I can easily get through. I see this to be the same with not being able to digest lactose therefore not being able to successfully absorb the creatine.

I just mix it with protein and water (no milk) before and after my workouts, and with apple juice on non workout days.

    aside from the gross taste.

Seems a like big thing that most creatine supplements try to improve is the delivery and absorption. i'm no chemist so can't say its bad idea, but i would stick with a juice or dextrose. but i guess listen to your body, if you're not running to the can w/ diarhea than stick w/ it.

Why exactly would creatine in milk be gag inducing? Can you explain this?

    No wait, let me guess.

You use CELLMASS or some other greatly overpriced creatine product with a crapload of sugar and flavoring and don't even realize you can buy bulk creatine monohydrate and get the same results for a lot less money?

    Am I warm?

This entire thread is scary with the lack of knowledge. It looks like Twinpeaks was having quite a blast with the other posters in this thread. Funny stuff!

Milk increases mucus production I think which may slow absorption a little, I dont know lol? But im pretty sure it would taste disgusting.... Like think about sandy granulated milk. Also juices that are acidic will not really do much to creatine as far as chemical conversions (your stomach is hopefully more acidic than said juice your drinking).

    1) I dont use CellMass
    2) I am well aware individuals are able to purchase bulk creatine mono or anything in bulk (EAA's, BCAA's etc) from various websites *cough* true protein*cough*
    3) I have tried mixing normal/bulk/"flavourless" creatine from mono to ethyl ester in many products such as my post-workout shakes which contain milk+protein+carb powders and could still taste the digusting after-taste of the bulk creatine.

To conclude, the thought of taking bulk creatine with milk would make me gag b/c that stuff is not very flavourless, as I could not stand it in my shakes that consisted of protein, and a carb powder, so with milk alone..would not sit very well with me.

How can you derive there is lack of knowledge based on an individuals taste preference?

Anywho, thats why the thought of it would make me gag. Your far from warm and your guess was way off.

I was making an order from the store here and noticed the cheap no-name brand creatine so bought some of that. This stuff was not as sandy & gritty as creatine usually is and it mixed well and hardly notice it at all.

I have been putting it in my post workout protein shake w/milk and you don't notice the taste or the grit at all.

I was just wondering about the absorption with milk but since it is so cheap I reckon I will just put in a little extra when mix with my shakes instead of juice.

I love milk. I mix my creatine mono with milk every day. If I mix it with my vanilla whey, you dont get the gritty taste you can get with milk. Sometimes you can notice a little different taste, but I have gotten used to it.

Twin Peak, you are the man. It is awe-some how you pay more attention to what these people are saying then they do, when they make their biased, opinionated claims. It's encouraging to 'hear' a voice of reason amid such baseless, thoughtless, uneducated findings.
