regular cheese
does anyone include regular (not fat free or law fat) cheese in their diets?
Is there harm in including the fat found in regular cheese as a fat source?
Thanks

Only as a cheat/cheat meal. The fat in it is almost all saturated fat - the worst kind. but once in a while won;t kill you

Cheese is worthless IMO. I haven't had any in over a year. Get your calcium from fat free milk.

Well I eat cheese sometimes. As long as it fits into your macros I dont see why its a big deal. Its just not a good source of healthy fats compared to nuts, avocado, fish, etc. It has a higher saturated fat content. But to have an ounce or so a day I dont see it being as issue, just dont go crazy with it (like I tend to do at times )

fat free cheese : D
Im a big cheese eater, but Ihavent eaten REAL cheese in a year or two really. Except once or twice.
I use fat free cheese, its kind of gross at first but its pretty good on a sandwich from time to time, I miss my real cheese!
you can find it at regular grocery stores, and its not "fake cheese" as in it does NOT have preservatives : ) i made sure once because i was scared, since it looked kind of..plastic..like..?!! Anyways I use it less and less, it weaned me from the real thing I guess : P!!!

this was my concern - I am having trouble finding a fat free or low fat (saturated) chesse which is not full of preservatives, colours etc.
I am in Australia so perhaps our range is not a big as in the States - even low fat cottage chesse has added preservatives, cream and salt...so I am cautious...

I just eat soy cheese. Taste the same to me. My family will tell you different. But only if they eat it "raw" on a sammich. If I use it to cook with and it gets melted, they don't know the difference.

Karate Girl....I am in Australia and I regularly eat "Shape" Cheese made by Dairy Farmers...it's 93% fat free and I still eat it and I am cutting for a comp (only 3 weeks to go). You can get it at most Woolworths/Safeways....It's a good addition to a healthy diet!

thanks Sherdi!
Just went and bought some today - so I will try it for my afternoon snack - I often have trouble digesting lactose and fructose - but I noticed that this cheese has very little lactose so hopefully it will be ok.

Yes, yes, and YES!!! EVERYDAY, usually TWICE a day, I eat regular, good 'ole cream cheese! I'm even preparing for a contest and I eat it. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH CHEESE PEOPLE! And no, saturated fat is NOT the worst kind of fat, TRANS fats are. Your body DOES INDEED NEED even SATURATED FAT, yes, I said it, SATURATED FAT, saturated fat is NOT evil. The way that came about is because the body can make it's OWN saturated fat, that's all, it's not BAD. Just like anything else, just don't overdo it. Read the following articles, they will definitely shed some light on things. This just goes to show how easily we are brainwashed.
http://www.mercola.com/2004/sep/8/saturated_fat.htm
http://www.mercola.com/2004/dec/15/saturated_fats.htm
http://www.mercola.com/2006/dec/26/t...rated-fats.htm
http://www.mercola.com/2001/jul/21/trans_fat.htm
http://www.mercola.com/2002/aug/17/saturated_fat1.htm
And personally, I don't feel like I'm eating real cheese if it contains no fat. I definitely don't like the taste of low fat or no fat cheese. Here is another interesting article about regular cheese and processed cheese: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Processed_cheese

You're welcome. There are a lot of myths out there and it's one of my missions in life to dispell them. There is a lot of information out there that we're brainwashed to believe is correct. Some of it is intentional and other times it isn't but rather because we have learned better, we have learned from our mistakes thru proper research. Kinda like back in the day when the people who proposed that the earth was round got ridiculed and called quacks. Now days you almost have to do the studies properly yourself to find out the real truth, which is a shame. Just trying to do my part to find the truth and get it out to others.
