We allow our employees to use them like planned vacation time. Most do this for dr appointments/visits

Nope. I allow my people to use it for what ever they want. They can't carry those days over to the next year which is incentive to use it. Stupid AF but that's the reality of it. The company wrote those days off the minute they gave them out.
