I'm going to have to say seated DB press but I wouldn't back down from a challenge if someone said lateral raises
I'm speaking purely in the context of hypertrophy here. I'm still not a fan of OHP for overall strength development but less so and for different reasons
A vertical pressing motion is just not a great way to stimulate the shoulder. Its automatically going to heavily favor the anterior head of the delt which is already overdeveloped in most people from their other pressing (any kind of chest pressing).
On top of that, OHP is an overly compound movement which requires a lot of supporting muscles in order to focus on a very small muscle group. It makes it very difficult to focus on the targeted muscle.
If I was designing a shoulder program for most people, it would start by burning your shoulders into the ground with isolation exercises through the rear and medial heads. After that, I would do some DB pressing and possible super set the last few sets with more isolation.
I'll make you guys a deal. We'll run an experiment. I'll write a program for delts. Two people log it for 6 weeks on here and we'll see if we can notice a difference through pics and general participant feedback.
All I ask is the the volunteers be experienced trainers and respected miscers.Training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

I haven't maxed in a couple months, usually do OHP at the end of my chest workout.
How do you guys usually program it? Will go for a new max next week and see. Currently 172lbs and cutting. Strict form was 155x2 @176ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

I think its enough time but it would depend on a lot of factors. The biggest factor would be how big of a departure this is from their typical training
You'd be perfect actually.
Ideally, this would be done on a shoulder day or shoulders and some small ancillary thing like bicepsTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

OHP is easily one of my favorite exercises. I feel so good after repping out multiple sets. Some people swear by it and others don't. To me I feel like it has helped me tremendously with getting past those bench plateaus.
As everyone said 1x your bodyweight strict is a really-really good lift .Kindness is all that matters in life

These. Real life standards, if you can strict OHP 135 for a few reps then you're strong as fuk to 99% of people.
Amongst people who actually lift, then 185 is the mark that's impressive assuming you're under 200lbs.
For misc standards, if you don't strict OHP 225lbs then you dont even lift.
Nowadays, there are probably 5-8 miscers Max that can strict OHP 225 for a single. Strict meaning you unrack the weight, walk it out, initiate the press with the bar on your clavicle, and lock it out above your head with zero leg drive If you can do that, you're a strong mothafuka"If you come at the king, you best not miss"
