Obviously there is a big difference in that coffee doesn't have the ergogenic ingredients that preworkouts do, but it does have a mild amount of caffeine. Coffee is fine before a workout if you can handle it and only need minor stimulation.
I use 1 scoop of SuperPump MAX before every weight training session which is roughly going to be ~2 cups of coffee in terms of caffeine.Instagram - @mooddani

Coffee and a PWO provide two different types of energy IMO
200 milligrams of coffee Vs. 200 milligrams of anhydrous don't feel the same. I always opt for a pre-workout before I train

My current pre has slightly less caffeine so just stack it with some coffee. If caffeine alone is enough for you, then coffee or caffeine pills would be perfect choices for you.I lift things up and put them down...

I use a pre-workout.
Usually Controlled Labs White Flash
The real Kraken with DMHA up to once a week for big days
Sometimes just a 16oz can of C4
Other variety of pres. Prolific, High Volume, Carbon Prep, Quake, Dymatize Pre, just depends which 'all around, caffeine only' pre I grab when for some reason it's not White Flash

When it comes to coffee, make sure you buy a good brand. Coffee offer caffeine, zero calories and other benefits that come with coffee. PWO offers same with other ingredients that may give a pump. In the end coffee can be easier to get when you need and cheaper.

You can try either or OP. Some people prefer coffee, some prefer a C tab, and others prefer a PWO.
