    Trouble with my TDEE

I used the calculator on one of the stickies on calorie counting and I’m just having some doubts on how accurate it actually is. I go to the gym for just over an hour 5 days out of the week and I just rest on the weekends. I’m 6”1 180lbs at 18 years old. My TDEE came out to be around 2750 on the calculator. I’m cutting so I’m trying to consume around 2000-2200 calories a day.

I was just wondering how accurate this estimation of my TDEE is and if I should consume even less calories on the weekend since I’m just resting those days.

Any advice on this is appreciated.

They are all estimates. You have to take sometimes and feel out how it affects your body. Give it at least a couple weeks and if your weight doesn’t move then reduce it by about 100 kcals/week until it begins to move and then you will know that you’re definitely in a deficit.

    Two things:

    1. TDEE is a (gu)estimate. You adjust it on the go, but it gives you a good starting point.
    2. You're 18, you should not be cutting mate. Your hormones are optimal for growth. Get on a lean-bulk.
    - Slow progress, is progress.
    - Losing fat is a marathon, not a race.
    - Take care of your body, you've only got one.
    - Progressive overload + good form.

If you're 6'1" 180 you really don't need to cut. Just eat a little over maintenance and put on muscle. You're in your golden years of muscle growth.

This this this this. And as everyone said above, it's a guestimate, and is generally a moving target that will vary day to day. The number you get is an average.

I was planning on going on a bulk in a couple months but I just want to get rid of unnecessary fat like I do have a bit of manboob and a bit of back and belly fat I want to get rid of. I’d say I’m around 15% body fat and I just want to drop it a bit before I go on a bulk

    Danny,

Take some good advice. Anyone tho did spend some time cutting when they were younger (unless SEVERELY obese) will tell you they regret it.
If you don't have a lot of muscle to display, what are you cutting for? Looking like a skeleton?

Really, start your lean-bulk asap. You're young and in an ideal position to grow. Heed the advice given by me & others above.
