anything eaten that takes you into a caloric surprlus will help you gain weight.
Is whey the best thing for that? no - calorie dense foods are, such as oats, fatty meats, whole milk, nut butters etc.
what pros & cons are you expecting?
pro:
might taste nice, depending on what you buy and what you prefer flavour-wise.
high in protein
cons:
might not taste nice, depending on what you buy and what you prefer flavour-wise.
isn't a whole food source like chicken, meat, fish etc.Strong & Unstable

Protein powder is mainly used to help meet your daily protein intake. For weight gain, your main priority should be your nutrition, so ensure that you have your diet in check and you're eating at a calorie surplus~
If you have trouble eating throughout the day or eating larger meals, then protein powder may be useful in terms of convenience.MuscleTech Representative

Whey protein powder should solely be used to help you reach your protein macros for the day.
Weight gain comes down to eating in a caloric surplus diet.
If you are looking for a whey protein to add to your stack, I would suggest checking out Impact Whey.Myprotein's Official Bodybuilding.com Lead Representative ✔

Of course it is good. It has calories lol
Weight gain comes from a caloric surplus. Find out how much you need to eat to grow. Eat the standard 1g per pound of protein...whole foods preferably, but whey fits in great at times.
