Helwani was talking about how RDA has never been as popular as he is right now and I thought that sounded just about right.
Anderson had Chael, and Frank Mir would have never been who he was without getting that rub off of Brock Lesnar.
As good as he is, and as much as RDA has been deserving, he definitely needed this situation where Colby Covington would step in as the hated heel and by default, gain hero status for himself. If he does what he's supposed to do and melts Colby, he's probably going to be catapulted onto the scene as a star.
And if Colby wins, JUST LMAO. Get ready for a chitstorm.
Honestly, we win either way because this storyline is one of the most interesting things going on in the sport right now.

1. Whitaker weaknesses:
Post Knee injury
Had a baby
Romero knows what he is like now
Besides that he is still an awesome fighter. bUT on a purely gangster level Romero won their last fight symbolically because he like usual always critically wounds his opponents like with the knee and in theory he would have won but made the mistake of not being aggressive enough.
In the last fight there was a moment where they were just standing there, Robert on wounded knee, and Romero did try something and Robert kinda feigned energy with a counter combo and Romero wasn’t aggressive enough and just kinda backed off on what was an easily takedownable with brute force wounded opponent.
In hind sight after the fight he recognized that dynamic and was kicking himself in the ass for it. At the end of the day he was the more dangerous fighter due to the degree of crippling damage.
So even though Whittaker won and I thought he would win, I can’t count out Romero because of the degree machavelian idiot savant kind of poker strategy where he always hides his deception. He believes himself as such a person and I think he has actually proven that he is such a mind games competitor and has gotten better.
Then again he is getting older and Whittaker is also a savage in that sense and might not be affected by the baby (rare) and the knee injury was just a non issue after healing and maybe he benefited just as much or more. Looked good at weigh ins. I might have to weight to see them walk up to the ring to call it.
2.
Colby colvington will win, he is so precise nobody is like him his hands, his eye sight, he is just scary to any opponent. When he walks into a room people fear him.
RDA needs to retire.

Agree with the romero whitaker fight, but id add that Romero (imo) seemed off in that fight.. I actually still don't totally know what to make of their first fight, Romero was just more inactive than usual IMO.
RDA and convinton, i really dont know. One thing i feel like goes unmentioned is that RDA's movement has been insane. In his last fight he was dodging so many bullets i was impressed.
