Back in 95 we were closer to a lasting peace agreement given Oslo Accord II were signed in 1995 so at the time it probably would have been more damaging. Of course with hindsight we know that while steps were made in the 90s a lasting peace agreement was not reached.

I don't know how Jerusalem will be divided in the final peace agreement but this doesn't help negotiations.

Don't forget that it was a Right Wing Israeli that killed Rabin along with the peace process.

The US has never put boots on the ground in an Israeli war to fight alongside Israel. Britain and France are the only two countries that have intervened with boots on the ground in an Israeli war, and Israel did all of the heavy lifting in the Sinai campaign.

The US was continuously supplying Israel with equipment from 1967 till the end of the Yom Kippur War and beyond.
Egypt was destroying Israel. Israel was beating Syria. Egyptian tanks, artillery, etc were protected by a SAM and AAA umbrella that was grinding up the Israeli Air Force like a meat grinder. Egyptian Anti Tank Missiles wiped out more Israeli Tanks than Israelis could have dreamed if in their worst nightmare.
Syria started begging Egypt to leave the safety of their SAM/AAA Umbrella and go on the offensive to relieve pressure on Syria.
All the Egyptian Generals refused and said that would be suicide.They said that the maximum speed of their advance was determined by how fast the protective air defense umbrella could move forward. Sadat had to fire the INCREDIBLY COMPETENT GENERALS (that destroyed more Israeli Tanks, planes, artillery, etc than anyone in history) in order to advance on Israel and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
If Operational Nickelgrass had not happened or Sadat had listened to the Generals. Israel probably wouldn't exist today.
