Good Afternoon,
My bi-annual military fitness test is coming up in a few weeks. I've been keto for several weeks now, and while my cardio endurance has gone through the roof, I am not performing up to previous standards on sit-ups and push-ups.
What would you suggest? Typically my day of prep is: a banana, some wheat toast, and pre-workout/BCAA's. Is there a better option that won't put me out of ketosis, (and potentially wreck my stomach since I've been gluten free for over a month)?

I'd suggest start doing more push-ups and situps. Coconut oil in coffee would be a good pre choice if you are keto adapted. Otherwise you better start doing some experimenting if you think pre-wo nutrition will matter that much. I'd start banging out AMRAP sets of push-ups and situps a couple times per day though, maybe morning and evening one set to failure and try to increase the reps each day.

I had my PT test a few weeks ago too, after being keto for several months. Not going to lie; I had two straight cheat days before it. I did okay. I passed, is all that matters. Actually, the run was my worst event. Then again, I've been cheating at least once a week since I started, so I may never actually get to the fully fat-adapted stage lol.
I do wonder how well I'd do if I was strict keto and then did the APFT... Maybe this next time I'll try it. I'll not cheat for 4-6 weeks out and see how well I do. I just didn't quite trust the process this time.Lucky me swimming in my ability; dancing down on life with agility!
