Tbh I feel this show would be better with a male lead instead of Dolores. Having two alpha leaders as women (Maeve being the other) pulls me out of it because it's just unrealistic. One strong, independent woman who don't need no man is enough for me.

One thing I found interesting, is that they made note he was an Alpha 2 model. Does dolores have a confirmed alpha 1 model somewhere, or is there possibly an older host we haven't caught on to yet?

there's no way dolores has alpha 1 model because they've wiped her memory and restarted her countless times. i think she's probably the host who's gone through maintenance the most. while it seems nobody gave a fuk about aketcheta

I didn't say it was terrible, I still enjoy the show. I simply just think it'd be better with a male lead over Dolores, not trying to sound sexist or anything. They made Dolores as probably the most alpha character in the show, and it's just not fitting to me. If they added like a Michael Fassbender in her place it'd be better and more interesting. Even MiB's daughter has to be a gun-slinging badass too.

I found it pretty weird that the native guy could just get up from his chair and NO ONE be around to deactivate him

He was going through a 4 hour update. The two techs left to grab lunch the second they initialized it and probably didn't come back for a while. Also Mauve awoke by herself through her "dreams" so it's not hard to imagine him waking up as well even if he was put to sleep.

Wyatt's storyline is mixed in with hers, of course she's going to be a badass (even more than she already was) and why she is super evil. MiB daughter would be badass because she's been in the park since she was a kid. She even knows languages that MiB doesn't care to learn.

It's not hard to immerse yourself into the show unless you keep missing important details and let your "ego" dictate the quality of the show

I too think the Maeve/Delores story-line is just way too hammed up.

The Nolans write really thematically so I think the basic premise Jon was going for is...

What if AI can hate? - Delores
What if AI can love? - Maeve

And the lengths they will go to, to express those emotions. I can see it being really clever in a writer's room, but it hasn't translated well on screen. Still I am enjoying this season. But after the Ghost Nation episode I wonder if more stand alone episodes that are really compelling is the way to go. Like they really missed the mark with the Shogun World sub plot.

I'm a medical resident with an undergrad degree in mechanical engineering. But I'm sure you are much more of an intellectual because you don't like TWD. By the way, I don't like it either.

I didn't think the story deserved 60 minutes. They seem to be deliberately slowing the show's progression to milk it for as long as they can. They took an entire episode to introduce a character who more or less just made realizations we have already seen other characters make.

You’re well within your rights to like action-packed shows more than dramas, which are typically more of a slow burn. Just irks me when people make sweeping generalizations about a show i.e. “Man this show sucks now” just because every ep doesn’t focus on their favourite character.

That is somewhat believable considering what you said, but where is EVERYONE ELSE? Was he and the other host the only other two needing an update? Was everyone in every sector on lunch at the same time that day? I just find it odd he was able to simply get up, wander around for a while, then have the access to the vault with the deactivated host, and then get back upstairs and hop back in like it was nothing. I understand why it was written that way, it just seemed lazy on the writers part is all.

Shogun world was filler. This episode advanced the plot and filled in quite a bit of backstory.

It seems to me that Dolores has been reconfigured and overwritten, but never wiped out, she was able to continually work through the maze in many of her lives, because of the reveries she continued to flashback to previous lives and kept achieving sentience before getting killed and sent back to her simple loop.

Aketcheta is the one who permeated the maze through the park over his life, spreading the key to becoming self aware. Thinking back to the MiB's game from last season we thought it was Ford who created this to have Dolores become aware.. it almost seems like now it was discovered by Aketcheta, due to his curious personality he kept digging at it and an unknown side effect that is full consciousness was found by the AI itself, it was not a grand design by Ford at least not in the context it was previously talked about - it is possible he had hoped for it to occur however.

What I love about this show is it gets my mind thinking on a different level. Something I was thinking the other day was that we human beings aren't really full conscious/aware. I'd say at best we are partially conscious/aware. We don't...

- Know where we ultimately come from
- We don't have control of our thoughts (they come and go)
- We don't have control of our bodies
- We can control if we die (or at least we believe we can - nobody knows for certain what happens after death) but we didn't choose our initial existence (that we know of).
