Pre Workout, using c4 and it's garbage.

Looking for some recommendations on a good pre workout. Right now i'm using C4 and i think it's garbage. I even do 2 scoops instead of the recommended 1 and it really doesnt do anything for me. Back in 08 and 09 i used the original jack3d and i really liked it, really motivated me. But i know whatever it was that i liked got banned so now its a new formula that i haven't tried. In 10' or 11' i used cardio cuts, i'm pretty sure it was the 2.0 version and i really liked it but can't find it online, only the 3.0 not sure if the 2.0 had the same stuff as jack3d that got banned. In 14' i used one called methylpump 2.0 and same as cardio cuts i can only find the 3.0 version online. Does anybody know how these 3.0 versions compare to the 2.0 version or the new jack3ed formula with the original? Can anybody recommend to me a pre workout that i can actually feel?

I would start with a stim break or try a strictly pump product.

But this is what I'm thinking. You should be able to feel something from 2 scoops of C4 (300mg caffeine + other ingredients).

Are you taking in other stimulants throughout the day? Soda, coffee, energy drinks etc? 300mg is a decent dose to not feel anything. You might make sure you shaken up the container real good before taking next time.

Sounds like you were taking products that have ingredients that aren't on the market anymore.

OP, What are you looking for in a preworkout?

I'm looking for something that will give me the motivation to get in the gym. i'm in the worst shape of my life at 28 years old and am just looking for something that will make it hard for me to be lazy. i know a lot of that is mentality and i don't plan on taking a pre workout for more than a couple months, once i get a good routine for myself.

It's better than it has been in the recent years. I've been trying to do a keto diet for the last 6 weeks or so, not very successfully i might add. The first couple weeks were good, i had dropped about 6 pounds but the last 4 weeks or so i've been cheating a lot and gained it all back. still healthier than previously but still not sticking to my plan. i've read keto is supposed to give you all this extra energy that i have just not felt at all in gym. a couple weeks ago i decide to drink a cup of chocolate milk about an hour before i worked out and i felt more energy than i had so far on the diet, but still nothing like i was looking for with a pre workout. I don't think i did keto long enought to feel the true effects, but at the same time i'm wondering if i need more carbs. theres so much conflicting information online and i'm not educated enough on all the health stuff to see through the smoke and mirrors.

I would dial in that nutrition (don't to keto you CAN NOT cheat on keto) and get your sleep patterns in order before trying any new product.

Find a good workout plan and just hold yourself accountable to it.

No product is going to be motivation in a can, at this point you will likely think everything is garbage...

Whatever method of dieting you decide to do, I would stay with it. Jumping from Keto to consuming carbs is probably not the best thing. Adequate rest and nutrition will play a role in one's workout.

Either try a stim break or drop your caffeine dose a good amount and add teacrine or dynamine at a higher dose.

This is your problem beyond dietary issues. Taking a magic drink isn't going to give you motivation. Further, you're drinking a large cup of coffee that has more caffeine than most pre-workouts and adding fat for some silly reason.

Motivation is BS. Discipline is what you need to create and supplements aren't going to create that. If you can't haul your butt to the gym you need to start there.

    Diet first.
    Discipline Second.
    Good training program third.
    Time and effort fourth.
    Supplements last.

I've been putting the coco oil in my coffee since i'm (unsuccessfully) trying to do keto. But your advice has had the most weight to it, i appreciate the blunt approach. That one word "discipline" has resonated with me. At the end of the day it's all up to me. Thank you.

Agreed, there are many solid non-stim options on the market like Hemavo2 Max which is loaded with all the top NO boosting and plasma volumizing ingredients at respectable dosages for pumps and fullness. Tons and tons of great reviews all over and tastes great. Def worth a look IMO.

Sure man. Good luck. I'd suggest skipping things like ketogenic diets or anything funky until you have a better understanding of nutrition. It isn't the magic diet that's making you lose or gain weight. It's caloric deficit or surplus to TDEE that makes the changes. The "diet" is just a vehicle to one of those two states depending on your goals.

Adding fats to your coffee isn't going to drive a ketogenic state. It's just extra calories. Ketosis is driven by a lack of glycogen stores.

If you're drinking a decent amount of coffee daily, the absence of a pre doesn't really matter. You will develop a tolerance.

Mr Hyde has been my go to the past little while - very high in stims though. Also has one WADA banned substance last time I checked (another stim lol), so if you're competing in anything tested by WADA, don't use before comp.
