    Significant weigh loss playing squash?

I just picked up playing squash and I'm loving how good of a workout it is. Has anybody here lost a significant amount of weight playing squash? I'm 5'10" and around 200lbs (25% bodyfat).

I would like to point out to you that weight loss is all about diet. Playing squash or whatever physical activity will increase your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), but it is what you eat that makes you lose fat. You cannot outwork bad diet.

^^^ This. (on spread for you JSim83)

Read the stickies here in the fat loss section - I play a fair bit of squash, it is unlikely that you are burning more than 300kcal over and above your normal TDEE. Ensure you eat less than you burn, and the weight will fall off in a largely predictable way.

The 100 or so calories you burn playing squash are put right back on again with the latte you have in the cafe afterwards. The point is it doesn’t burn a huge amount, sure it helps, but what helps more is not consuming the calories in the first place

Yes I'm very familiar with TDEE, macros, and all that good stuff. Just simply wondering if any others had a successful cut while playing squash.

Regardless, you won't lose weight just from playing if you turn around and eat more because it stimulates your appetite (which it will). The point everyone is trying to make is that losing weight comes down to what you eat more so than what you do.

To put it in perspective, even if you're really burning 1000 cal every time you play, you'll still have to play for four hours a week and not change your diet AT ALL to lose weight (assuming that you were maintaining your weight before, if you were slowly creeping up in weight, you'd have to play even more). Additionally, your body WILL eventually adapt and become more efficient at squash and your calorie burn will go down.

I get what you are saying and what others were saying...to me it's common sense that you need to burn more than you eat, so just thought it was strange how everyone was so quick to point that out. Nowhere did I mention I didn't have a sound diet in place lol. Anyway, thanks for the advice...I know it came from a good place.

Give me some of what they’re smoking. Ok so 100 was an exageration but no worse than 1000 is, unless you are a 400 beginner playing a squash pro who has you running all over the court.

Then your question makes no sense if you already understand you need a calorie deficit to lose weight. I could ask if anyone has had a successful cut playing video games.

Also, in no way do you use 1k calories an hour playing squash.
