Dammit Rogaine is working for me but it’s aging my face...

Been on the 5% foam Kirkland minoxidil for exactly 12 months. Saw my temples filling in VERY nicely and the bald spot on the back of my head filled in significantly as well.

But I developed new wrinkles under my eyes and think I’m gonna stop now. I knew this was a possible side effect going into it but I had to try something since I’ll never even consider taking propecia/finasteride.

So now I’m gonna watch all my hair gains sh!t the bed and wait to save up for the transplant. just wanted to throw my experience with it out there to fellow Norwood brahs who are considering it.

I’m not discouraging it or encouraging it. that’s just how sh!t went down in my case. I never missed a dose every 12 hours for a year though. or at least a very very low number. Wish I took before pics to compare.

    Too good to be true

My dad is balding. Has really thin hair and mad peaks.

Hoping I skipped that gene lol. If i ever start balding I'm going to just get a transplant.

I have beautiful wavy Southern European hair. I can't let that **** go to waste.

This is the one of the big reasons I never seriously tried rogaine is I heard of the wrinkles/aging.

The other is its a big pain in the ass, have to do it twice a day, every day, a full on routine of chit. There used to be a mega thread here on rogaine/hair stuff from this one brah who had amazing success all without any trainsplant or procepia. He updated a few years later and admitted he gave up on all of it and just went bald because it was a huge pain in the ass.

Yeah, it's not worth it imo. I was thinking about what to do when I started balding back when I was 18 and after thorough research I concluded it's best to just submit to the Reaper and shave it. Everything else is cope and requires too much.

Comb over? You look like a retard and everyone knows
Toupe/hair piece? Once you're found out, you are immediately labeled as a beta and lose respect in the eyes of those who know. Also, you're paranoid all the time about it falling off or getting blown by wind
Hair transplant? Best of all the options, but still leaves an ugly scar, hair can possibly start falling again and costs way too much.
Rogaine/Propecia? 2nd best option but it can fuk you up for life, although cheaper than transplant, it still costs a lot in the long run and it takes way too much effort. You waste so much time and money on the routine, just to lose it all again once you stop. You literally became its slave and have to work your life around it.
Tattooed hair? Looks good on the pictures but looks terrible in real life.

Until something better is invented (never going to happen since those options above make too much money), bald is the way to go. It may not look very good, but it leaves you the most dignity and you stop giving a damn after a while.

yep, I remember that thread. Its cumbersome and time consuming and expensive. His re-growth was impressive, but it ages your face and you have to be on it for life to keep the growth-gains you make. I'm starting to see some noticeable thinning in the front of my head. Once I get to the point that I have to start styling my hair to conceal the thinning, i'm just gonna shave it bald. I'm not even gonna fight it. I told myself years ago i'm not going to be "that guy" walking around with the god damn wisp of hair on the top of my head or a flippin' horse-shoe shape (the misc would know it as Norwood 7). There are older guys that go to my barber to get the "horseshoe" shape trimmed as if they have much to cut in the first place....WHY? its over! just get rid of it, lol.

Or maybe I think this way because i'm black and have been bald before and know that I have a good shaped head for the bald look (thank you neck bridges).

I tried to use rogaine to fill in my beard. Was going good for about 2 months and started noticing some decent baby hairs coming in.

However, during that time span I would encounter newly developed random heart palpitations. I didn't think much of it, and attributed it to my workout regimen and playing basketball several hours of the day that summer.

Then I dead ass woke up one night in a cold sweat and my heart was racing 100 miles an hour for no phucking reason and wouldn't stop. I thought I was having a panic attack or worse yet a heartattack. Scared the living daylight out of me since I'd never experienced something like that before.

So I googled possible rogaine side effects and bingo....stopped cold turkey after that. Sucks because I was seeing some results. But no way in hell am I risking my life over that ch1t.

I tried it for a couple months and got forehead wrinkles quick. It also like changed the texture of the skin as well. 2 years later I still got those wrinkles even after using special wrinkle creams and moisturizers. They help a little, but the damage was permanent.

Topical finasteride/minoxidil solution and ketoconazole (don't think this one does much) is regrowing my teenage hairline, srs. The fin is giving me sore nipples so I need to cut back the dose even more though, last thing I need is gyno.

I was on minoxidil+ketoconazole for months and that wasn't enough regrowth to make a difference on the hairline (tons of chitty tiny blonde hairs mostly) so I took the (topical) finasteride plunge. Not sure I'm going to be able to cope with the side effects unless I can find a microdose sweet spot.

For your wrinkles look into retin-a OP, also helps some people respond to minoxidil better.

I used minoxidil myself for a 1-1,5 years on my hairline. It did not help that much, but some hairs were gained, though they did not grow too long so they would only help if I had a short haircut.

However, in the end, I noticed dark circles under my eyes appearing, and I could not, not see them in the mirror. I have been off now for about 3-4 weeks and they seem to be gone, or almost gone. Don't think I will touch it again, 7-11 eyes are not worth the hairline IMO.

Also, this stuff just can't be good for you anyway if you think about it. My next attempt will be using a derma-stamp only. Might regrow similar hair to what I got from the minoxidil.'

Edit: I only applied once a day - at night

Awww-chit. I've been using it as part of my alopecia areata treatment. Haven't noticed it aging me but maybe I'll look in to it more if not abandon it all together.

I've gotten a FUT (strip) hair transplant and sadly even the transplanted hairs will eventually thin and miniaturize....

They'll still continue to grow, they wont miniaturize to the extent of DHT-sensitive hairs, so they'll be there forever but it becomes noticeably less dense over time and wont grow as long.

Sadly, even a hair transplant is not a "one and done" because every few years you'd have to go back for a touch up procedure.

Check out Joe Tillman on youtube. Dude has had 9 hair transplants.

I tried both minoxidil liquid and foam. The liquid causes intense, rage-inducing skin irritation.

The foam causes less irritation but it's a pain to apply

I just use finasteride and that's about it. Anything else is too much of a hassle.
