I thought that you already had a Pixel 4.
I am getting the 4 and not the XL. I ordered it and then read reviews and now I am having second thoughts. I am concerned about no SD card, and not so sure about the face recognition (no fingerprint reader). I would say that no headphone jack is an issue also, but I recently purchased a portable DAC player and some IEM (In Ear Monitors) earbuds.
I will let you know what I think when it arrives.

Been using it for a couple of hours. I really like the build quality of it. Much prefer the small phone. I am not so sure that the 'no fingerprint' button is a big deal for me as the facial recognition seems solid. I guess the phone detects motion and goes into 'ready' mode and when you look at the phone it is very quick.
I am still struggling with no SD card though.
Battery life is my next concern. I heard that it was horrible and then others reviews say not so much. I really don't use my phone a whole lot. The most use my phone gets is looking through emails and connecting to work and fixing issues when I am away from the office. I have no social media so I won't be burning up the battery with things like FB, Instagram, etc.

I prefer not to have to rely on Google Drive or Dropbox if I can help it.
I keep a lot of work related data (router config files, backups, etc.) on it. I also coach baseball for my kid's high school team (private school) and I keep a lot of training videos, docs, etc. on my SD card. These are things that I may need on the field but may not have a decent data connection on some places where we play.
I can live with not having an SD card I guess, but I really hate to have to go along with the idea. Especially when you consider that Google is trying to force you to use Google Drive and eventually have to pay for more Google Drive space. I just hate that sort of practice. Reminds me of Apple. Also, losing the headphone jack is a big deal as well. I know that many don't care. I have wireless earbuds but they are rarely charged when I need them.

Yea, I used to feel that way when the cloud started then I just gave in. And honestly life is so much easier now. I'd embrace it. How much storage do you use? Drive gives 15GB of free space. Can get 100GB for $2 and 200GB for $2 and 2TB for $10, the pricing isn't horrible I don't think. I never used above the 15GB free though, and now since switching to Google Fi (which I recommend) I actually get Google One for free which is 100GB of cloud storage. From what you are saying the videos are the only space intensive thing you have, how many GBs of videos do you need on demand on your phone?

^ that will take care of your headphone jack issue if you really want one. And I am sure you can buy one not made by Google much cheaper. However, I just use wireless headphones now, couldn't even find a set of non-wireless in my house at this point. I'd suggest trying to make the change, like cloud storage, it'll only end up more convenient once wireless headphone are just your routine. It's just convenient, not only do I not have to deal with wires at the gym or even when wearing headphones, we have pairs throughout the house paired with multiple things, my woman can clean freely without wires and listen to her books on tape, someone can watch TV, peloton on full blast without disturbing others, I find it convenient to just grab one bud if I take the dog for a long walk and can freely listen to a podcast while having another ear free to hear surroundings, wireless is just convenient in so many ways and I think one of those small things like so many things in tech you think I don't need/want that then you'd never go back once you have it fully implemented in your life. And you even have kids, I'd be headphoning those fawkers up for my own peace and quiet and sanity.
With changes in tech I try to force myself to just take the leap. I never want to age into these people like my parents who can't do a single thing and are missing out on so much life convenience. I mean Bosko has a prepaid flip phone, I know it's bound to happen one day but I want to not live like that for as as long as I can. I just tried to give my parents a 4k TV and they refused because it's a smart TV and the gov't can watch them (LoL). I just shook my head and sold the TV but they are missing out on so much stubborn to change. They pay who knows how much for cable and DVR shows, it's like going in a time machine stepping into their house, lol.
